Position Description – Credit Analyst (Trainee)

We are currently looking for trainees for the Credit Analyst Team. Credit Analysts, as an integrated component in the entire investment process, will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Investment Strategy & the Analytics Team to perform research and analysis on credit related financial products, and provide recommendations on corporate and mortgage investment strategies.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for Credit Analyst include but not limited to the following, depending on the covered areas:
* Gathering financial reports, extracting the information from the reports and processing/maintaining the data into analytical platforms.
* Analyzing company financial statements in detail including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow.
* Performing market research and developing financial models related to valuation, debt capacity, and other financial analysis.
* Assisting in transaction analysis including loan pool analysis, modeling and analysis of bond structure, and review of legal structure and documentation.
* Utilizing data and analytics to develop relative value and fundamental investment recommendations in Whole Loans, Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs), Credit Derivatives, Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS), and other structured products.
* Preparing credit write-ups and presenting proposed transactions to portfolio management team.
* Assisting in portfolio reviews with focus on trends in credit exposure, ratings, counterparties, countries, etc.


Qualifications


* Minimum Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree is a plus with a preference for concentration in Math, Science, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related fields.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop effective collaboration with portfolio managers, strategist and other credit analysts.
* Willingness to learn and work in a tight schedule to meet deadline.
* Strong understanding of financial markets/concepts and fixed income instruments. Familiarity of structured products and credit derivatives would be a plus.
* Strong technical or financial background with the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
* Working knowledge of database resources such as CapitalIQ, Markit and Bloomberg will be added advantage.
* Professional certifications such as CFA and FRM are preferred.
* Work full time or at least 4 days per week.
* Can get the supervisor’s agreement or approval on the intern work outside University.
