Key Areas of Responsibility


Cost Estimation of different commodities, particularly Castings / Forgings / Machining / Fabrication / Heat Treatment components (Expertise in Gears is desirable) : Expected to do detailed first principle costing (covering estimations of gross input weights, process & machine selection, cycle time, other cost parameters) for various items at the Design / Drawing / 3D Model stage, setting in the process the Target Costs for Design & Purchase functions. Costing assignments will be particularly related to China region.
Costing Systems & Database maintenance : Maintenance of Costing system & database : Time to time updation of Process parameters, Raw Material Prices, Machine Hour Rates, Labour Rates, Cost Trends, Freight, Taxes, etc. Support in development / updation of cost systems. Should have thorough understanding of prices of steel, cast iron, etc & the influencing factors. Knowledge of supplier base.
Product Costing : Doing the costing at BOM level for entire new products, with various types of analysis activities. Investment projections.
Cost Tracking : Constant tracking of Cost changes for the current products with in-depth analysis of causals of cost changes.
Cost Reduction & Value Engg : Coordination & Monitoring of Cost Reduction projects with cross-functional team along with maintenance of database


Specific requirements:



Experience of Manufacturing processes like machining, casting, forging, presses, gears machining, heat treatment (experience in purchasing of these commodities) including toolings & fixturing. Commercial experience like process costs calculation, machine hour rates, raw material costs, etc.
Exposure to Cost Competitive environment with involvement in Cost calculations & Negotiations with vendors.
Computer savvy (expertise in Microsoft Excel, Power-point, etc).
Open to flexibility in working hours.
Working in tandem with all related functions - Purchase/Mfg/Design/Marketing/Finance.
Ability to adopt to new working tools related to Cost activities.
