Job Description

A teacher in Shanghai Guanghua College Fudan Campus always aims for the highest standards of professionalism both as a teacher, colleague and team member of staff. Although this job description can be exhaustive, subject teachers will be responsible for the following:

l Having a general lesson plan for all lessons. The plan should be based on the published Scheme of Work and include lesson objective, teaching methodology and homework details.

l Becoming familiar with the programs and courses of study used at the school to ensure the teaching quality.

l Assigning homework, periodic tests, and providing clear and actionable feedback in a timely manner.

l Preparing school report twice each term: once at the mid-term and another in the end of the term. School report preparation includes students' individual test/exam scores or grades with teacher's comments on student's general performance, effort level, strengths, and areas for concern.

l Meeting with parents to discuss students' progress according to the school's arrangements. Those meetings are likely held after school hours or during the weekends.

l Promoting and adhering to school policies, such as uniform, classroom rules and other disciplinary policies.

l Participating in and/or help organize extracurricular activities.

l Periodic lesson observation by the Academic Director, Subject coordinator and/or designated personnel for evaluation purposes for support, development, encouragement, and feedback for teaching.

l Regularly evaluating their own performance and progress.

l Providing useful suggestions to students regarding their University entry requirements and prepare recommendation letters when necessary..

Personal Specification

Although we prefer candidates who have relevant working experience in an international teaching and learning environment, especially the experiences of offering well-recognized international program to ESL (English as Second Language) students, opportunities are also given to those who have the academic potential and the willpower to excel in the teaching profession.

Experience and qualifications:

l University degree or above in relevant subject areas (E)

l Holding a recognized teaching qualification (D)

l Experience in teaching relevant A Level or IB subject (E)

l If we are satisfied with your academic background and teaching ability, we will ask your permission to contact two of those named as referees on your resume/CV.

l An offer letter stating the remuneration package, contract commencement date other relevant issues will be sent to successful candidates.

l Upon receiving the offer letter, candidate needs to inform us about their decision whether to accept or decline our offer within the specified time frame.

l Once the offer has been accepted, we will advise you about visa and make the appropriate arrangements for your arrival.

Who we are（学院简介）

Shanghai Guanghua College is an educational organization authorized by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) to offer ‘A level’ and IGCSE courses and conduct A level and IGCSE examinations. The college is located in one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest developing cities – Shanghai.
上海光华学院是在剑桥大学国际考试委员会（CIE）注册的教育机构，为中国学生提供A Level和IGCSE课程，本院学生可以在学院直接参加这些课程的考试。学院位于世界上经济发展最快、最具有活力的城市——上海。

Just after three years, the college has grown into a school with good reputation, with all the pupils receiving offers from top UK, US and Canadian universities. Currently, the college has two campuses in Shanghai; the first one was opened in 2008 at Shuangyang Road, wihin Kongjiang High School, Yangpu District. The second one was recently opened and located inside one of the top ranked high school – High School Affiliated to Fudan University.

What we do（开设课程）
All A Level and IGCSE Courses at our Centre are carried out both in English and Chinese, directed by the CIE syllabus and using CIE approved teaching materials. To ensure our pupils benefit from the essence of both eastern and western teaching methods and styles, we have two sets of teachers – highly qualified expatriate staff and local bilingual teachers. Furthermore, our college works closely with Fudan University and its affiliated high school, sharing their high quality teaching facilities and human resources to provide the best possible education for our pupils.
