Title:Senior Audio Video Engineer(Shanghai Disneyland Project Specific Local Hire)

Department:25 - 45E, Audio Video Engineering


Status and Labor Grade:Salaried Exempt, 34


GENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTION:


Perform Audio / Video Engineering activities related to attractions ride, show and park/resort wide systems. Provide technical oversight to the project team members performing A/V engineering tasks: systems definition, staging and mock ups, review of media scope and evaluation of creative intent, facility acoustics design and evaluation, delivery and source equipment criteria and selection, facility sizing and supporting infrastructure, production, installation, systems verification, and Test and Adjust. Enforce systems engineering process, discipline, and standards as well as ensuring a quality final product. Take responsibility for budget, schedule, and quality of attraction related deliverables.


CORE FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:


· Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive A/V engineering activities.

· Initiates and maintains extensive contact with key engineers and officials of AV Engineering and other organizations and companies, requiring skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.

· Demonstrate and practice creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented A/V engineering problems, program objectives and requirements, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.

· Ability to supervise an engineering team in the production of engineering designs, documentation for complex projects through all phases of engineering design, production, installation, testing, and documentation. Able to translate creative and functional requirements into design requirements.

· Must stay versed on current Audio, Acoustic, and Video technology and products worldwide.

· Ensure conformance to A/V department standards and procedures.

· Provide A/V engineering manpower and schedule planning in support of estimating activities.

· Develop specifications and test plans.

· Responsible for following a design through installation to successful operation and turnover.

· Identify, collect, specify and document A/V interface requirements for utilities including electrical power and equipment cooling/heating loads. Verify contractor implementation.

· Review and authorize for release detailed top level, layout and design drawings of electronic subsystems.

· Resolve design and integration conflicts and revise A/V element requirements as required.

· Develop risk analysis and inform management, as required.

· Direct and coordinate with designers in the preparation of detailed facility drawings and electronic equipment drawings.

· Ensure the checking of detailed electronic equipment drawings.

· Supervise Vendor design activities and resolve technical conflicts between Vendors.

· Finalize detailed interface requirements between show control, ride control, ride mechanical, and audio elements.

· Direct troubleshooting of first article assembly problems as required.

· Provide electronic contractor support and verification of first article assembly and bench testing, as required.

· Review contractor manufacturing and quality documentation against contract technical requirements.

· Continuously monitor Facility contractor construction progress for compatibility with AV systems installation.

· Ensure Audio and Video deliverables are met.

· Verify and validate A/V equipment installation and facility acoustical treatments against drawings and requirements.

· Troubleshoot and resolve installation conflicts, interferences and other problems.

· Will be required to travel to all sites and vendor locations, as required, for periods of one to six weeks or more.

· Review specifications, scopes of works, Test and Adjust plans and procedures.

· Verify A/V systems performance against requirements.

· Review final specialty contractor documentation and review and release as-built drawings.

· Review final A/V Test and Adjust and acceptance testing documentation against deliverables.


TECHNICAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:


· Comprehensive knowledge of audio source, signal processing, and reproduction/exhibition technology. Understanding of sound system design, architectural acoustic requirements, test and measurement. Experience in interfacing both PC and MAC based computers to audio hardware.

· Knowledge of video source systems, signal processing, encoding, and reproduction/exhibition technology.

· Strong working knowledge of theatrical design and technical knowledge of specific discipline, including methods of construction.

· Good working knowledge of architectural and facility requirements, construction methods, and integration of specific discipline products into an attraction.

· Understanding of the creative process and the development of a creative design.

· Familiarity with Industry Audio and Video standards.

JOB SPECIFIC SCOPE:

· Project(s): Shanghai Disneyland

· Risk: Complete technical responsibility for ensuring that the Audio and Video Show Systems meet Disney standards for safety, quality and consistency. Responsible for making sure that they meet the Creative intent and the expectations of the Customer. Ensures that all the design specifications have been met, design reviews conducted with good participation from all concerned stakeholders, and that all tests have been conducted at the factory and the site.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:


· Primary Relationships - This position reports to the Director of the Audio Video Engineering Department. This position may supervise other Audio Video Engineers, as well as Jobshoppers/Consultants, and/or Park Personnel.

· Secondary (dotted line) - This position reports to the discipline Project Lead or Show / Ride Engineering Manager (as applicable) for the assigned Project.


LEADERSHIP SKILLS:

· Presentation of project updates to Functional and Project Management.

· May manage day-to-day activities and provide direction for small team of Engineering personnel on the Project.

· May supervise Jobshoppers / Contractors.

· Participate in the technical development of consulting contracts.

· Supervise multiple major contracts.

· Assignment of this individual may require management of people and process. Successful individual should be able to work well under stress with a variety of personalities while maintaining an open and positive perspective that reflects confident professionalism and an unconditional dedication to providing consistent superior products and services for TWDC.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


· BS in Electronics Engineering, Audio Video Engineering or related field

· Proficiency in AutoCAD

· Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project)

· Knowledge and familiarity with relevant Industry Standards

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Native level fluency in Chinese language, able to effectively communicate with Facility contractors and AV and other Show Specialty contractors.

· Optional: Able to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English, clearly and concisely keeping many individuals informed.

· Engineering professional experience totaling a minimum of eight years, including responsibility for engineering analysis and design; developing engineering scopes of work, budgets, schedules and resource plans.

· Strong hardware knowledge and hands-on field installation experience required.

· Must be able to work without supervision but able to integrate inputs from many individuals and work as a team member.

· Must have a high tolerance for change and changing requirements.

· Knowledge of human factors and ability to design to accommodate people.

负责各景点游乐设备、演出布景和整个乐园/度假区系统相关的工作。为项目团队成员执行音频/视频工程任务提供技术支持和规划:设定系统“蓝天创意”、样板工程、划分前期媒体范围、评估创意意图、设计与评估建筑单体音响、挑选源设备的标准并负责相关采购工作、测量与分析建筑单体和配套设施、制作、安装、测试和调整等工作。确保系统工程的流程、记录、标准的执行及最终产品的高品质。负责与景点交付成品的预算、进度和质量工作。

· 根据合同技术要求,审核承包商制造和质量文件。

· 不断监督设施承包商的施工进度,使之与音频视频系统安装相协调。

· 确保音频和视频交付品满足要求。

· 确认并证实音频/视频设备的安装及设施音效处理与图纸和要求一致。

· 故障排除并解决安装冲突、干扰和其它问题。

· 须根据要求至所有现场及供应商所在地出差,时间为1至6周或更长。

· 审核规格说明、工作范围、测试和调整计划与流程。

· 核实音频/视频系统运行符合规定。

· 审核最终版的专业承包商文件,审核并发出竣工图纸。

· 审核最终的音频/视频测试和调整,并验收测试文件是否与交付品一致。

· 掌握音频源、信号处理和复制/展览技术的综合知识。了解声音系统设计、建筑音效要求、测试与测量。拥有将PC和MAC电脑与音频硬件接合的经验。
