Responsibility:

-- Provide advice and direction on income tax and indirect tax legal issues, compliance requirements, and planning opportunities to China/Regional Tax Counsel and business unit management in response to inquiries, reviewing proposals and business plans, and self-initiated projects.
-- Manage the development and implementation of sound practices, procedures, and processes for compliance with applicable reporting requirements and fully exploiting all feasible planning opportunities to minimize tax liability and non-compliance risk.
-- Assist in the development of requirements for and the implementation of tax business systems.
-- Provision of strategic advice, direction and operational planning to minimize exposures and achieve maximum savings and returns for opportunities identified.
-- Liason with government authorities and external advisors on behalf of the business unit.
-- Represent GM Business Units in hearings and at meetings with government officials in controversies and the proactive pursuit of advantageous legal or administrative positions
-- Management of electronic and hard copy records.
-- Analysis of opportunities under current and future tax regimes.

Knowledge & Experience:

-- Minimum 6 years Tax experience with major corporation or large chartered accounting firm (at Manager and/or Senior Manager Level)
-- High level knowledge of, and experience with, Corporate Tax, Business Tax and VAT, as well as other transaction taxes legislative, regulatory and administrative practices.
-- Experience in managing the work of external service providers preferred.
-- Extensive experience working with business and governmental personnel on complex tax and indirect tax issues and controversies
