Role: Marketing Lead, China
Based in: Shanghai

IDEO has been present in China for 10 years. We seek to raise awareness of our brand and our work in China through creative marketing initiatives. These initiatives should showcase the power of design-led innovation; our people, their thinking and ability to enable Chinese companies to compete and grow in domestic and global markets, and multinational companies to compete and grow in China.

The marketing lead for China will collaborate with location and regional leadership, the local design community, the global marketing team, and other partners to define, communicate and amplify IDEO’s offer in China. The aim is to generate higher brand visibility and esteem, create productive conversations with organizations seeking to deliver new growth and impact.

Responsibilities include:
- Drive and contribute to process of setting marketing strategy and plan for IDEO in China in collaboration with location leadership, the business development team, global marketing colleagues, and external partners to raise visibility, awareness and preference for IDEO in China
- Foster external relations through a portfolio of activities including: events, salons, know-hows, exhibitions, tours, and media relations
- Manage, field and research marketing and media inquiries from journalists, individuals, academia, and other organizations and keep a database of contacts
-Manage media opportunities and work internally with relevant individuals on messaging and presentations
- Help shape and express stories of our work and capture them, extract content and insights from the local teams to further develop with the global Marcom (Marketing and Communications) and business development community and vice versa
- Coach IDEO teams and people on messaging and media opportunities
- Manage and develop, in collaboration with internal and external resources, our Chinese online presence and assets including our Chinese website and weibo account.
- Produce, manage, and develop a system and a suite of online and print marketing tools and materials where needed.
- Work closely with marketing colleagues in other parts of the world to stay connected to other locations and to leverage news, stories of our work and thought leadership where appropriate
- Act as a hub and internal ambassador for IDEO in Shanghai on all marketing matters related to China

The ideal candidate:
- has experience working in a creative environment and international working culture, with likely background in PR and/or Marcom
- is effectively bilingual and fully fluent in Mandarin and English
- has experience dealing with the media in China
- has proven track record using social media and web-based channels as marketing tools
- has excellent writing skills and is an articulate, accurate, and timely communicator
who can build and sustain momentum, and has an ability to keep an eye on the big picture while managing the details
- has a passion for marketing and design
- is proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and presentation software and has some familiarity with Adobe’s creative suite: Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
