SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This individual will be responsible for developing manufacturing processes for plastic injection molded components. The engineer will develop processes by establishing injection molded cycles of new and existing molds. The engineer will also define pre and post molded processes for components to optimize efficiencies, yields and productivity. The engineer will use process capability studies and other statistical techniques for defining process capability, identifying and eliminating sources of process variability, for the ultimate goal of component certification. This individual will provide engineering support to production by troubleshooting injection molding processes and tooling, and by defining mold maintenance requirements. This individual will be responsible for providing customer support for new product development and resolving any quality problems with components. This position requires a minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in a high volume injection molding production environment.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

· Develop, troubleshoot and optimize injection molding processes.

· Involve customer, production, maintenance, quality, engineering and materials personnel in a team approach to problem solving and continuous improvement and assure that all issues are properly resolved and communicated.

· Continually identify and justify improvement opportunities for cost, productivity, downtime and scrap.

· Specify, select, coordinate installation and qualify injection molding automation and other auxiliary support equipment.

· Qualify new molds per customer requirements.

· Hire, train and manage manufacturing personnel such as mold technicians, set-up technicians, material handlers and operators.

· Provide technical support for repair and maintenance of molds.

· Support and participate in Lean initiatives and 5-S activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Good English language written and verbal skills.

· BS Degree in engineering or science.

· Strong injection molding experience in troubleshooting, optimizing processes and mold sampling.

· Extensive hands-on experience in scientific or decoupled molding practices.

· Knowledge of part and mold design, mold fabrication and plastic resins.

· Hands-on experience in implementing automation in the mold shop.

· Ability to read blueprints and use measuring equipment as needed

· Working knowledge of SPC, CPK, DOE and DFM principles.

· Excellent computer skills.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, project management and technical skills.

· Proven record of success in working with and leading teams.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

· Advanced degree in technical or business-related field.

· Production Planning/Scheduling, Preventative Maintenance Principles

· Experience with Engel and Haitian Molding Machines.

· Strong interest in manufacturing and management.
