Sales Engineer - Job Description


The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.

The Sales Engineer serves customers by identifying their needs and is the primary technical and commercial resource. The Sales Engineer is responsible for actively driving and managing the sales process, sometimes working independently then again in conjunction with other members of the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for our products. The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. Must be able to identify all technical and other issues of assigned accounts, propose and engineer adaptations and assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Sales Engineer Job Duties:

· Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers.

· Provides product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.

· Establishes new accounts and services accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and organizing sales call schedule.

· Determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment and propose changes plus highlight achievable gain.

· Gains customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.

· Develops customer's staff by providing technical/application information and training.

· Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends.

· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending related workshops and fairs; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

· Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in sales and knowledge of sanitary technology. Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical-commercial organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to requests and when submitting reports. Must be able to explain technical properties of a product to non-technical staff and clients.

Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches. Must be prepared for extensive travel. Because the sales engineer meets with prospective clients and collaborates with teams of experts when identifying customers’ needs and providing input on product design, the sales engineer must have good business skills, commercial awareness, and a commitment to follow-through.

  • 3-5+ years relevant experience in technical sales
  • Experience and familiarity of our products and line of business a plus
  • Engineering and/or business degree

任职资格

理想的候选人必须具有上进心,并在洁具技术的销售和知识领域有一份可靠的工作业绩。一个工程-商业团队的舒适有活力的气氛有助于迅速扩大客户基础。必须具备强大的表达能力,和书信回应请求和当提交报告时,能够提供专业的交流。必须能够解释技术性能的产品给非技术人员和客户。

组织和分析,能够通过有创造性和适应的方法来解决销售障碍。必须做好经常性出差的准备。因为销售工程师会见潜在客户和与专家团队合作,当识别客户的需要以及提供产品图纸时,销售工程师必须具有良好的工作技能,商业意识,并且恪守承诺去跟进实施。
