Responsibilities:
Candidates will lead research project teams and be responsible for the delivery of projects and develop the overall capability of the research base of AkzoNobel in the area of polymer chemistry or material synthesis. The overall goal is to provide innovations to the Businesses within China and globally.
1. An experimental researcher who has the ability to conduct and / or lead work with a primary technical focus on polymer synthesis or organic synthesis
2. May need to work as project leader.
3. To conduct research work professionally, scientifically, and deliver outcomes in a timely manner. This includes defining objectives, drafting plans, reviewing progress, analysing results.
4. To ensure all activities in the area of responsibility are conducted under the guidelines of AkzoNobel SSHE policy.
5. To write necessary reports, technical plans, and other internal correspondence to ensure appropriate project and business communications.
6. To work collaboratively with global AkzoNobel technical network and external parties to keep a consistent quality of work and an up-to-date knowledge of polymer chemistry or organic synthesis.
7. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the relevant scientific and technical literature to ensure that new ideas, methods and approaches are incorporated into the experimental programmes and communicated to the project manager and sponsoring businesses where appropriate.
8. Liaising with businesses, working collaboratively across boundaries so as to ensure that all relevant business information is taken into account as the projects proceed, thereby ensuring that they remain aligned with evolving business strategy/needs.
9. Directing, motivating and supervising team members, who may assist in carrying out the job-holder's work programmes, ensuring effective development and delivery of results
Requirements:
？ PhD in polymer science, or MSc in polymer chemistry with at least 3 years research experience in research institutes or industry.
？ Expertise area in polymer chemistry; resin development.
？ Previous working experience in coating or adhesive related area is desirable.
？ A broad knowledge of polymer science is preferred.
？ Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills in both English and Chinese.
？ Proficient in computer applications.
？ Good interpersonal skills
？ Project management and leadership skills.
