Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Lead and support R&D project planning for new products and processes
• Lead and execute day to day R&D activities in the newly established labs
• Collaborate among all groups in the technology center, including materials and process development, new product development and system understanding, characterization and modeling as well as new business development
• Collaborate with other Corning R&D and business organizations across the globe
• Identify and collaborate with external R&D and academia organizations for new product and process development for Corning
• Deliver and support new products and processes to Greater China businesses

Education & Experience

• PhD or MS in materials science or engineering; PhD is a plus
• PhD and 3+ years of industrial research or development experience, preferably in ceramics or glass field
• MS and 6+ years of industrial research or development experience, preferably in ceramics or glass field
• Technical leader and/or a R&D project manager experience a plus

Required Skills

• Deep fundamental knowledge of chemical and physical properties and surface properties of inorganic materials, especially ceramics and glass
• Ability to understand technology roadmap and project portfolio and able to develop and execute R&D plan
• Strong ability to perform product and process R&D in the lab environment; ability to utilize material characterization and modeling technique and tools
• Ability to learn new technologies
• Ability to apply scientific method for technical problem solving
• Excellent communication/presentation skill

Desired Skills

• Broader knowledge in inorganic materials and industrial market requirements
• Knowledge in inorganic water/air filter and fluid dynamics
• Knowledge in combustible material oxidation or combustion and heat transfer
• Knowledge of inorganic and organic material interactions

Soft Skills

• Strong ability to collaborate with cross globe Corning R&D and business organizations
• Good English and strong Mandarin language skills
• Ability of building network with potential customers and collect VOC
• Strong team work
