Responsibilities

Be a local point of contact and interface providing legal advice and support on M&A and other corporate matters in the region. This includes independently or together with other members of Legal Services, handling transactions and projects of variable size and complexity with guidance as and when necessary from the General Counsel .
Provide support on other complex projects and Legal Services work as required in the region.
Under assignment from the General Counsel assist in legal initiatives including training, legal audits, template preparation , legal intranet etc.
Keep General Counsel informed of key issues through regular contact.
Co-ordinate and communicate as necessary with
-other global and local lawyers and specialists in Legal Services,
-the business and enabling functions,
to deliver a high quality overall service which enables the business to meet its objectives.
Work collaboratively with others including internal Insite clients, Insite's external advisers and other enabling functions.


Qualifications:

Education and qualification as lawyer in the PRC. preferably with some overseas education in addition
3 plus years of experience in M&A transactions at an international law firm and/ or internal law department of an international company

An excellent first-hand knowledge of Chinese law and practice as it applies to M&A and other corporate transactions
Good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Works well in a team in a collaborative way but must be able to work with minimal supervision
Business aware with a good ability to understand the business, its strategies, its people and its organisational structures
Strong awareness of legal and commercial risks and the ability to establish the means for managing and balancing such risks consistent with business objectives and with integrity
Ability to manage external lawyers on legal projects while controlling external costs to achieve the best possible service
Good computer skills
Works efficiently with strong project and time management and prioritisation skills
Good drafting and conversational skills in English and Mandarin
Willingness to undertake business travel , including sometimes at short notice
