Project Manager, Software Engineering

We are a small group of globally located engineers with the backing of an $11B medical device company. We are driven to improve people’s lives through healthcare innovation and are looking for a driven and independent engineering project manager that shares our passion. In this position you will be part of a cross functional team that explores and develops leading edge medical applications using open source and cloud based technology. We want someone who is self-driven with a strong drive for customer support.

This role is the leader of a team responsible for developing and supporting an enterprise device management platform hosted in the cloud. This platform is used to update software and collect performance data from medical devices. The system will be used globally by several business units of a multinational medical device company. This position requires a highly motivated, self-starter with excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills, with relevant experience in managing software teams and software projects.

Excellent written and spoken English skills are required. Some overseas travel will be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manages software projects in China. Responsible for project planning and monitoring. Participates in Requirements Analysis and Risk Analysis. Oversees software release activities.

· Collaborates closely with US and India project teams.

· Writes and conducts annual performance appraisals.

· Ensures regular feedback, coaching, and communication with group.

· Administers company policies, procedures, local work instructions, housekeeping, and safety policies.

· Responsible for initial training of direct reports.

· Prepares and reviews project schedules, resource requirements, and budgets.

· Prepares monthly progress reports on projects.

· Prepares and presents oral presentations at company meetings.

· Promotes continuous quality improvement.

· Executes tactical implementation of strategic plans.

· Emphasizes an environment to foster teamwork.

· Understands and implements the Product Development Process.

· Understands the project’s business requirements.

· Introduces new products, technologies and processes.

· Reviews and is responsible for quality of engineering test protocols, reports, engineering change documents and signature process on projects.

· Participates in team decision making, and develops team problem solving and communication skills.

EDUCATION:

· BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum 5 years experience in enterprise software development

· Minimum 2 years experience in engineering leadership roles, such as Project Leader, Group Leader, or Team Leader

· Experience in managing multi-geographical software development projects a plus.

· Medical device experience a plus.

· Experience with Linux and other open source technologies a plus.
