Key tasks
? Undertake L 1 and L 2 Desktop support
o Log local service requests
o Build new PCs to Macmillan standards
o Install new and updated software for end customers
o Install and test other new hardware components where required
o Create new user accounts
o Local support for telephone system
? Act as local contact and hands and eyes for other GTS technology teams, including network support and server support teams as and when instructed.
? Works with Service Desk , server support and network support teams as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from internal customers.
? Provide first line local support for email issues.
? Produce documentation all local systems and ensure this is kept up to date.
? Train new business staff on use of hardware and remote connectivity.
? Work with procurement staff to purchase hardware and software.
? Participate in new technology projects to add value and gain experience where required
? Ensure knowledge is kept up to date regarding emerging technologies

Skills/knowledge:
? Good working knowledge of Microsoft desktop products and Operating Systems
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
? Desktop and Laptop hardware technologies and common fault finding techniques is desirable
? Passion for IT, New technologies and to learn
? Ability to clearly articulate solutions and suggestions to others
? Ability to problem solve issues remotely
Experience:
? Team player with strong communication and written skills
? Experience in the creation and review of technical documentation
? Previous employment or work placement within an office environment
? Hands on experience with different desktop based technologies
? Hands on experience with different mobile technologies (Smart phones, tablets etc)
1. English Language
A key part of the role will be communicating with different offices globally so a good understanding of the English language is essential. The applicant will be expected to communicate is written and spoken English.
