Summary:

The Senior Firmware Engineer will carry out the embedded software system and component design of embedded software systems for video acquisition, preprocessing, and transmission in new medical applications to ensure entity’s time-to-market, development cost, ease-of-use maintainability and reliability objectives are met. The position will develop the embedded firmware for TI DaVinci based endoscopic camera system, covering a number of aspects from board bring-up to IP streaming application development and web based configuration interfaces. He or she will also have opportunity to work extensively on digital video capture/multiplexing and display, audio and video compression, system boot and driver development.

Major Responsibilities:

· Mainly design, documentation, implementation and testing of the embedded video acquisition software system and related components – for the endoscopic camera systems in surgical procedures.

· Define specifications/requirements for image preprocessing for HD video acquisition by correlating the clinical requirements and market requirements of endoscopic image qualities.

· Embedded software development on the image processing pipeline of the single CMOS sensor based endoscopic camera system – noise reduction, Gamma correction, CFA, and contrast enhancement as well as 3A.

· Perform actual hands-on design and analysis, debugging and verification in embedded software development.

· Work closely with the cross-functional teams and project managements in the fulfillment of project scope, timeline and/or regulatory standards.

· Responsible for continuous integration and design for reliabilities for embedded system design and verification in the new product development life cycle.

· Conduct project estimation in a realistic and rigorous manner, provide a thoughtful manufacturing work guideline and lead the training of image quality evaluation procedure in manufacture V&V and mass production.

Major Challenges:

· Cross business unit development requires a good skill of communication and networking.

· Stretch to optimize the process of reducing time-to-market using proven problem-solving skills.

· Exploit a number of sound engineering principles to resolve system and component-level image quality degradation issues.

· Identify and deploy a set of processes and methodologies to enhance design for reliabilities.

Job Qualification:

· B.S. + 6 or more years related experience, or MS + 4 or more years related experience, or PHD + 2 or more years related experience in embedded software development for design of medical endoscopic systems, advanced digital camera systems, smart camera-phone systems or professional automotive electronic products.

· Experience of embedded software development on image processing pipeline such as defective pixel compensation, noise reduction, color interpolation, edge enhancement, Color correction, tone correction, distortion correction and Lens shading correction, etc.

· Understanding of the image signal processing (ISP) pipeline for CMOS and having a proven programming skill in C/C++ under embedded Linux system and DSP.

· Experience in software design and unit testing of modules and sub-systems with embedded software development.

· Familiar with continuous integration for software development and IP Camera software solution

· Customer-oriented with reasonable English communication skills, able to work well within cross-functional product development team in aggressive manners.

· Familiar with image quality assessment and its related specification and process.

· Problem solving and analytical skills, excellent technical and business judgment ability.

· Ability to figure out creative ways to meet the aggressive schedule and quality requirements.

· High quality standard and attention to details.

· Knowledge sharing and strong team work.

· Proactive and highly self-motivated.
