Summary:

The Senior Hardware Development Engineer will carry out the hardware system but mainly focused on electronic component-level board design for video acquisition, processing and transmission in new medical applications to ensure entity’s time-to-market, development cost, ease-of-use maintainability and reliability objectives are met. The position may have extended responsibility of conducting or supporting ID design of medical imaging camera system and endoscope components.

Major Responsibilities:

· Participate design, documentation, implementation and testing of the embedded system or components -- main processor board, camera sensor broad, user interface, battery/power management, interconnect circuits, and produce schematic design and PCB layout, and specs for electrical parts/modules/cables selection and qualification, etc.

· Perform actual hardware development such as specification of ID design, PCB layout design, board-level schematic design, debugging and support of analog/digital for the real-time video camera systems.

· Help to monitor and control progress of hardware development including design history files to ensure the related engineering principles and best practices are used as well as design targets to be executed.

· Work closely with the cross-functional teams, external vendors, internal sourcing teams and project managements in the fulfillment of specific cost structure, timeline and/or regulatory standards.

· Participate electronic design and verification in the new product development life cycle - concept and feasibility, risk analysis, prototyping, design V&V and design transfer as needed for NPI process and quality engineering systems.

· Maintain the BOM list, generate Gerber files, rework hardware design for safety testing, provide a thoughtful manufacturing work guideline and conduct the training of prototype assembly and/or design of sub- or final assemblies of assigned products.

Major Challenges:

· Cross business unit development requires a good skill of communication and networking.

· Assist the lead engineer to optimize the process of reducing time-to-market using cost-effective approach.

· Follow the sound engineering principles and best practices to resolve component-level issues and execute the processes and methodologies to enhance design for excellence

Job Qualification:

· B.S. + 6 or more years’s related experience, or MS + 4 or more years’s related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical engineering or electromechanical engineering.

· Capability of performing product development effort including: concept definition, block/functional diagrams, system level schematics, schematic capture, PCB design and complete documentation and strong knowledge on EMC/EMI Test.

· Familiar with electronics design tools including Cadence, Synopsys and Mentor Graphics.

· More than 2 years of experience on electronics design on TI DaVinci Video Processors or ARM Cortex-A8 processor.

· Consolidated development knowledge for wireless video transmission using WiFi, Zigbee and wireless USB technology.

· A common sense of design for reliabilities and good capabilities of correlating the spec, of ID design to the electronic system design.

· Ability to figure out creative ways to meet the aggressive schedule and quality requirements.

· High quality standard and attention to details.

· Sound skills in verbal and written English communication.

· Knowledge sharing and strong team work.

· Proactive and highly self-motivated.

Desired

l Capable of basic ID design for handheld devices.

l SolidWorks or Pro E skills are preferred.

l Biomedical engineering background.

l Experience in geometric tolerances and dimensioning preferred.
