Job Role: Finance Supervisor

Main Purpose:

Reporting into the Finance Manager, the main purpose of the role is for this individual is to support the Finance Manager to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial results (and key controls underpinning them).

The candidate should be a strong technically competent and enthusiastic professional possessing a good deal of common sense who enjoys working in a small dedicated team and on their own initiative, acting as an outpost of financial reason and representative of the Group Finance function.  The candidate should be prepared to be hands on.

The individual will be a key point of contact in the company and be expected to Business Partner with all functions. The candidate should be comfortable to deputise for the Finance Manager. 

Please be aware the Finance Manager is an Expat so individual should be very comfortable using English.

Report to:

• Finance Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Financial Control
   

• Ability to identify and minimise control weakness.

• Possess understanding of a strong control environment, creating appropriate processes and procedures to ensure a robust framework exists

2. Budgets and Forecasts

• Be hands-on to support the preparation of budgets and monthly forecasts

• Prepare STCFF for next six months on a weekly basis

3. Day-to-Day hands-on accounting

• Be willing (if needed) to perform the bookkeeping for all transactions including cash, invoices and journals
• Be willing (if needed) to raise tax invoices (i.e. fapiao)
• Prepare the supplier payment runs and manage the purchase order process

4. Credit Control/Aged Debt

• Manage the credit control process, flagging any issues to the Finance Manager and the rest of the team on a prompt basis to ensure actioned
• Report on aged debt weekly to the Group finance team

5. Tax Reporting and compliance

• Perform the tax reporting when required and be an expert on tax requirements under local regulations.
• Help to ensure the subsidiary is compliant locally and with the Group policies (including the DoA)

6. Month End/Management Accounts

• Prepare the balance sheet reconciliations and all supporting schedule
• Prepare the management accounts and commentary for review with the Finance Manager

7. Year End and Audit (internal and external)

• Be a key liaison with the external and internal auditors
• Be a key role in the completion of the year end accounts and inspections

8. Project work/Business Partner

• Business Partner to other departments, supporting on different topics by providing sound financial advice and recommendations to drive business forward.
  

9. Opportunities and Business Proposals

• Broad awarness of the business and be alert to identify business opportunities by preparing business cases and aiding decision making to support business development and growth.
  

10. Other Duties

• Any other ad-hoc duties as required by your Line Manager.
• Delivering a high quality, cost effective and efficient service.

Key Skills:

• Sound financial and regulatory awareness combined with excellent commercial and analytical skills
• 3+ years’experience in a similar based role
• Must be knowledgeable of local GAAP (new PRC GAAP). An understanding of UK GAAP (FRS102) and international accounting standards (IFRS) would be preferable
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and manage diverse relationships
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with a range of external and internal stakeholders

Education and Experience:

• Chartered Accountant or other recognised accounting certification
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing) is essential
• Sound Financial Accounting background
• Experience of a distribution or retail business
• Strong people management skills
• Strong analytic skills and ability to think strategically using financial analysis
• Possess a thorough understanding of the local tax regulations
• Strong Excel / system skills.
