A- DESCRIPTION
Under the authority of the General Manager and in close cooperation with him/her, the Chief Technical Officer for Composite:
? Outlines the company’s technology vision, implements technology strategies and ensures that the technological resources are aligned with the company’s business needs.
? Leads, organizes, manages and supervises the laboratory in order to optimize product portfolio in accordance with the Chinese market,
? Supports sales representatives by assessing customer issues and participating to the associated action plan Technical service requires in-depth knowledge of all products’ types, and how they should, and should not, be used.
B- RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Officer for composite:
? Is responsible for leading and supervising the laboratory activities in order to optimize the product portfolio in accordance with:
- The Group’s strategy,
- The legislation in force,
- The ISO standards and/or any other applicable standard, esp. EHS related;
? Develops and rationalizes the product portfolio adapted to the strategic markets’ requirements in China;
? Looks for raw material sourcing in China; and assists purchasing on-demand
? Fulfils the commitments made in conducting studies, in terms of lead time and product performance within China;
? Determines the main guidelines for all studies (feasibility, preliminary steps, development) and monitors the progress with the General Manager;
? Launches and manages R&D projects for newly formulated products in China
? Supports production and quality departments during industrialisation phase of the formula;
? Ensures proper functioning of the department he/she is in charge of: managing the development technicians, consulting sales teams, scheduling studies, and reporting of lab tests to China team and the Group;
? Provides feedback to sales representative about product usage and its possible enhancements and participates in process improvement projects within China;
? Manages the activity of technical assistants, in coordination with sales representatives:
- Troubleshoots technical issues, diagnoses, repairs faults and speaks to customers to quickly get the root of their problem;
- Travels to customer’s sites to implement solution for issues’ resolution;
- Supports Quality department to solve the claims in a timely manner;
? Manages human Resources:
- Developing the skills of attached employees in China;
- Uniting his or her colleagues around the development of the business;
- Setting goals and having annual assessment interviews with each of his or her direct colleagues in accordance with the Group’s Human Resources policy;
- Taking part in assessing his or her functional colleagues in accordance with the Group’s Human Resources policy;
- Ensuring the sustainability of his or her management’s key functions;
- Suggesting staffing adjustments (recruitment, transfer, promotions, etc.) in order to meet his or her team’s training needs;
- Contributing to the daily running of process(es) in China;
- Contributing to the R&D day-to-day processes in his/her department and ensuring the compliance with R&D procedures and updating of the constitutive elements and specific process indicators;
? Participates in the budget development (investments, staff, training), by suggesting the appropriate budgets required by the development studies in China.
C- AUTHORITIES
Direct reporting line to the General Manger.
Has hierarchical authority over the R&D departments for his/her sector, over the R&D Engineers, over the Chemists and Technical Support reporting into him/her in China.
R&D field of activity:
- Validation of new studies development program
- Validation of laboratory formulas for transitioning into production
- Modification of existing formulas

- Major: composite materials and related majors;
- Education background: Master degree or above;
- In-depth knowledge of the technical specificities of the business line;
- Knowledge of customer means and needs;
- Confirmed managerial capacities;

- Interpersonal skills Negotiating ability;
