We are a European buying office, operational in various Asian countries for over 25 years, owned by the leading Swiss retailer, serving various sales formats for our owners as well as our third party customers in food as well as non-food businesses.
Our core business is to source and negotiate the right products at the right price, to secure order processing, production, and shipment to our customers in the right quality, quantity, and on time.
Our large product range reaches from textile, decoration, household, furniture, camping and garden, tools, construction, electrical, sanitary and installation, to toys, sports, stationery, food, and near-food products.
The talent and commitment of our people are critical to our success. To support our growth, our Shanghai office in Jing An District is seeking high-caliber, very experienced professional to join us in the following position:
Senior Merchandiser - furniture & BBQ
Responsibilities
- Business development:
- Responsible for formulating merchandising strategy to achieve goals for Indoor/outdoor furniture and BBQ.
- Responsible for defining and conducting necessary measures and projects to secure a sustainable growth.
- Responsible for supporting customers in developing their purchasing strategy, and implementing new products/product ranges, product/packaging designs and private labels.
- Responsible for monitoring market and competitors trends, and actively providing customers with relevant information and new business ideas.
2. Sourcing:
- Responsible for screening all relevant sourcing markets in Asia and actively searching for suitable (new) suppliers and products.
- Responsible for the organization, conduction and follow-up of customers’ buying trips.
- Responsible for providing customers with all the necessary information which enables them to make order decisions (e.g. quotations, samples…).
3. Product and supplier management:
- Responsible for selecting and managing an appropriate product portfolio for indoor/outdoor furniture and BBQ, and offering suitable products to the customers according to specific customers’ needs.
- Responsible for negotiating best purchasing prices for the customers within the assigned product group and within the agreed quality standards.
- Responsible for selecting and managing an appropriate supplier portfolio for the assigned product group.
- Responsible for maintaining close supplier relationship, conducting supplier evaluation and developing suppliers to long-term partners according to customer`s requirements.
- Responsible for negotiating and maintaining supplier contracts.
4. Customers management:
- Responsible to gather and constantly develop specific knowledge of customers` retail markets, their business model, purchasing and assortment strategies, in order to better understand and meet their product requirements.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining close customer relationship in a day-to-day business.
- Responsible for actively offering and promoting products to the customers, in order to constantly increase sales.
- Responsible for supporting customers in making all product related decisions, and particularly in solving product and delivery related problems and settling claims.
5.Order management:
- Responsible for ensuring and controlling the placement of customers’ orders with suppliers.
- Responsible for ensuring and controlling that all the necessary documents for production and shipment are provided.
- Responsible for ensuring on time shipment of the right goods, including all the necessary production and shipment control measures.
- Responsible for managing day-to-day supplier and client relationship and efficient communication flow during the order processing, including early warning in case of delays or other problems.
6.Quality assurance and control / other services:
- Responsible for involving in-house and outsourced service providers, such as QC/QA, packaging, design, logistics etc. in all relevant processes and decisions, and mediating and securing a communication flow between service departments, customers and suppliers.
- Responsible for ensuring that all the necessary QA/QC-measures (supplier and production audits/tests) are carried out and a final product quality meets customers’ requirements in collaboration with in-house QC.
7.Planning and reporting:
- Responsible for specifying sales targets/budgets for his product groups on a more detailed level and planning and reporting on assortment projects, which will secure reaching the sales targets for the assigned product group.
- Responsible for planning and reporting on relevant KPIs for the assigned product group.
- Responsible for planning, managing and reporting the activities of his/her team in accordance with the defined goals, budget and timescales.
Who we are looking for
- You have profound knowledge of the Indoor/Outdoor Furniture and BBQ markets in Asia and Europe.
- You have good understanding of the trends and keep yourself updated to the latest developments for your product groups.
- You have already good business skills and trading knowledge with European customers.
- You have great communication skills with an ability to build strong relations with customers/suppliers both in Asia and Europe.
- You are self-driven, result-oriented and well organized,
- You are willing to frequent travel in China and Asia.
- You want to prove your potential and grow in our company.
Requirements
- A bachelor or master degree
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize with good time management skills
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint is a must
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, proficiency in German and/or Italian is welcomed.
- 8 years successful working experience in an European buying office or trading office for Indoor/outdoor furniture
