Job Purpose:  

To create AutoCAD/Creo/Inventor drawing of core medium speed engines and mechanical engineering, ensure order execution drawings release and change documentation conforms to established engineering practices and maintains Engineering Services data. This position will have engineering responsibility for Marine/Oil gas orders/ Electrical Power.  Beyond the engineering functions, this position is to provide technical sales support as required for marine/oil gas/electrical power projects, to ensure we only commit to orders that are within the Caterpillar Motoren.  This will support engineers to have technical discussion directly with designers, yards, and end users as required to provide technical solution , and recommendations to the customer needs and installation concerns.

 

Job Duties:  

Provide Mechanical drawings for medium speed engine , auxiliary modules , SCR and application and installation issues for the marine/oil gas/electrical power segment to ensure that all technical and engineering issues are executed according to contractual requirements.  This includes taking active supporting to ensure all  equipment meet design and interface requirements. Work closely with the engineering engineers/supervisor and China based execution team to leverage a common regional approach to engineering issues and designs.  Responsible to engage with cost effective, quality suppliers for CAT MaK products needed to support new sales.  Ensure technical specifications for such goods are complete and valid so the business/purchase departments can follow through on commercial purchase.  Provide sales support as needed to the Sales Team

 

Management / People Skills: 

Must be able to work within a team environment with strong interpersonal skills to engage team members.  Must be able to engage with customers directly in a professional and competent manner for technical and sale support issues. Maintain positive working relationships with the KEC, CMTS , and CAT marine/oil gas/electrical power related equipment organizations as required to ensure technical specifications for such goods are complete.

Background / Experience: 

This position requires extensive technical knowledge of the medium speed engine , related aux. equipment business and related engineering and shipboard systems.  The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5-10 years of marine/oil gas/EP experience in this field with prior technical experience and base knowledge of engine and ancillary system designs and applications.  Minimum requirements include communication skills, and broad knowledge of design tools including AUTOCAD/Creo/Inventor.  An ability to effectively and rationally communicate verbally and in writing with both English speaking personnel and those who have English, as a second language is required. Prior experience in an engineering role with an engine maker is required, with marine/oil gas/EP medium speed engine as an advantage.
