Job Scope:

YKPao School Extension Programmes is a unique company, wholly owned by the YKPao School Trust. The business plays a unique role managing activities for our pupils after school and running summer camps to give other children an opportunity to experience YKPao School for themselves.

We operate at a very high standard of professionalism, functioning with the values and operational quality that is expected at YKPao.

The business is growing and has an ambitious strategy in support of the board’s long-term vision for the school, including international opportunities.

The General Manager is responsible for delivering these extension programmes and summer camps in Shanghai, in accordance with the strategy agreed with the Board.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead, manage hold accountable your direct line reports

2. Achieve Balance/Healthy Choices targets

3. Achieve all financial targets, including sales and profit

4. Achieve enrolment targets to the School from our holiday programmes

5. Define and implement SOPS to achieve a high-quality delivery

6. Ensure safeguarding and health & safety

7. Ensure seamless and supportive integration with the schools

8. Assist the board with the definition of future strategy

9. The GM also has responsibility for carrying out additional functions that may in future be delegated to a full-time employee: either Sales & Marketing, or Finance & Administration

Job requirements:

2. Bachelor's Degree or above

3. Over 4 years' work experience in a management position, preferably in a highly regarded retail or training environment

4. Prior P&L responsibility

5. Experience working abroad desirable, although not essential

6. Fluent in Chinese, speaking and writing to the very high standard required of customer-facing employees in an outstanding bilingual school.

7. Excellent level of English, speaking and writing to the very high standard required of customer-facing employees in an outstanding bilingual school.

8. Experienced user of standard operating procedures, able to define and implement them effectively across the company

9. Highly skilled manager able to organize the work of the business in an effective fashion

to deliver business outcomes in a controlled manner in accordance with pre-agreed outcomes

10. Proven ability to lead an organization to deliver challenging top line, bottom line and non-financial targets

11. Highly numerate, able to use and understand numbers in a business context, such as calculating costs, prices, discounts; and reading and reporting to a profit and loss account.

12. Confident user of current office information technology, including video and voice communication, messaging and email, writing documents and using spreadsheets.

1. Maturity, intelligence and personal impact to deal directly and effectively with YKPao school principals and leadership team.

2. Rapidly gains the confidence of everyone you deal with at any level, and can negotiate all normal business situations to get to the right business outcomes

3. A compelling and enthusiastic sales-person for the company, able to articulate our vision and services to win hearts and minds in any context (e.g. YKPao staff, parents, YKPao board, government authorities)

4. Highly effective and experienced in people management, able to carry out recruitment, training, assessment, performance management, development, disciplinary as required, with HR support, and also to ensure that these processes are effectively implemented across multiple sites.

5. Able to provide effective leadership to a dispersed team, and to expand comfortably to manage the much larger holiday teams

6. Soft skills to get the best out of your team: engagement, motivation, team building, support, improvement.

7. Influencing and diplomatic skills to work effectively with stakeholders around the role, in particular school personnel.
