Job Description

·Establish and manage the swimming programme, providing direction, high quality leadership and support for the PE department.  Develop strong partnerships, promoting swimming positively within Harrow and the wider community. Take an active role in increasing participation and growth of the programme from the school’s opening in August 2016.

·To teach swimming to students across all year groups during PE lessons.

·Lead the development and refinement of the curriculum ensuring clear athlete pathways and competition opportunities.

·Monitor and evaluate athletes’ performance and progress.  Oversee reporting and feedback measures to ensure information is delivered in an appropriate and timely manner to participants, parents and school staff.

·Provide coaching to participants of the Harrow Swimming programme. Maintain flow and development of school programme ensuring correct technique and skill progression to achieve curriculum objectives. 

·Work closely with other swimming professionals throughout Shanghai to implement new initiatives, maintain excellence in coaching and achieve high standards of good practice.

·Build strong relationships with the Harrow P.E. teachers to promote swimming activities and events both within the school and externally in inter-school competition.

·Develop best practice in coaching, child protection and safety.

·Assist the Director of Sports to prepare reports on matters of budget, performance, programme occupancy levels, programme development and recommended future programme/development initiatives

 

Requirements

·Have appropriate qualifications

·have at least 3 years’ experience in the same or similar line of work

·have excellent communication skills

·Be genuinely interested in the education and development of young athletes
