Job Title: Manager, Quality Engineering
Department: Operations Quality (Plant)
Location: Changshu
Reports to: Head of Operations Quality
Subordinates: Senior Engineers, Engineers
Job Summary:
Staff and lead a team of Quality Engineers (18 people) as a function of Plant Quality Operations.
The main department function is to support the Manufacturing organization in meeting quality targets by driving all daily quality improvement activities including data analysis, risk analysis, process control planning and problem solving.
Additionally the role includes planning and executing change control and planning for new model programs.

Main Roles and Responsibilities
Staff and lead the Quality Engineering team, including coaching and mentoring to develop team and individual capabilities
Coordinate all department activities with other functions including Central QE, Supplier Quality, Operations Quality and Customer Quality.
Control and coordinate Plant Quality Engineering activities for new programs:
Planning and executing to support the key program milestones/events.
Lead all other launch-related activities including exterior and interior colour/grain harmonization, coordinate development of Product Quality Standards, coordinate retrofit activities.
Establish Issue Resolution Team structures to enable effective problem resolution.
Conduct Product Safety review/evaluation of vehicle routing/critical operations.
Provide key performance data for program status evaluation Quality Gates.
Lead major/minor engineering change events relating to product quality including major and minor program changes, model-year changes, etc.
Plan, execute and evaluate Production Trial Run for engineering changes.
Drive effective problem solving during serial production including tracking issues in Issue Resolution System (IRS), developing use of 'Red X' technical problem solving techniques.
Drive effective risk assessment and process control planning.
Coordinate Vehicle Test activities.
Coordinate Temporary Work Order and/or Repair Standards in the plant.

Candidate Profile

Local (Chinese) preferred; expatriates considered if having experience in Chinese OEM
Education: technical degree, automotive engineering preferred.
Dual language required (Chinese and English)
Experience: strong automotive engineering background.
Analytical skills - able to analyze data, in particular to support problem solving
Strong leadership skills; able to coach and mentor subordinates
Good communication skills and cross-functional working ability
Customer and team-oriented, open-minded and flexible.
Structured working approach - good planning skills and strong follow-up
