Major responsibilities:

Monthly/Quarterly close
? Ensure a timely and US compliant monthly close of the books of all Gerber Scientific's Asian companies.

Organization
? Standardize accounting practices across Asia, ensuring these practices are in compliance with Gerber Scientific's Financial Manual and Internal Control requirements.
? Organize and execute the further expansion of the Asian Shared Service Center.
? Automate Finance Operations where possible to improve efficiency and productivity.
? Proactively and continuously improve service levels towards both internal and external customers.

Compliance
? Ensure USGAAP compliance. In coordination with the Corporate Controller, ensure all new or updated USGAAP rules and regulations are implemented. Must be able to research technical USGAAP accounting matters that specifically pertain to Asia and coordinate with the Corporate Controller for the practical implementation.
? Ensure compliance with Chinese accounting and tax-related laws and regulations.
? Interface with external auditors relating to local audits of local financial statements.
? Ensure full Internal Control compliance and coordinate compliance testing and reporting with the Internal Audit Department.

Reporting
? Prepare all monthly/quarterly/annually reporting and disclosure requests from HQ.
? Based on internal customer needs, prepare internal reporting that provides Management with financial information to enable timely and effective decision-making.
? Ensure all reporting required by local law is prepared and filed timely.

Process Improvement
? Evaluate and make recommendations on improving processes and controls.
? Be proactive in raising issues and recommending solutions to Corporate and local finance and senior management.

Management:
? Manage a team of employees. Develop and coach the department to achieve business goals.

Other
? Continuous interaction and coordination with the Corporate Office functional areas, primarily tax, treasury, planning and analysis and legal.
? Develop Key Performance Indicators for all subordinates.
? Ad Hoc reporting.
? Participate in a wide variety off special projects (mergers, acquisitions, etc).


Job requirements:

Education & Experience
? Minimum 7 - 10 years of related work experience in Financial Operations, preferably in an international environment with different legal entities, Business Units and cultures
? Degree holder preferably with major in finance/accounting/economics. MBA degree is a plus
? MUST have in depth knowledge of US GAAP and Internal Control structures
? Expert in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point)
? Proven working knowledge of accounting and other transaction processing systems and internal controls
? SAP knowledge is a significant plus
? Experience to manage and develop a team of people

Attributes
? Able to lead a project within agreed deadlines; experience in managing a Financial Services related project would be a plus
? Self starter; focused on providing solutions and solving problems
? Ability to interact well with senior executives; good leadership presence.
? Very good written and spoken English and Mandarin, Cantonese is a plus.
? Ability to work in a multi-task, highly matrix environment
? Good interpersonal skills
? Able to travel (approximately 10-15%)
? Good presentation skills
? Able to work under pressure in a flex time environment
