Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

• Carry out research and development work on engineering thermoplastics products; anticipate technologies to meet future markets and customer needs. Understand competitive product landscapes. • Provide solid understanding of material requirements, customer test protocols and material qualification process. • Collaborate and leverage global resources to solve various customer issues and provide technical support to field and market team. In particular to develop and commercialize new engineering thermoplastic products/blends to meet the customer needs. • Proactive interaction with Commercial, Marketing and Application Design Specialists to understand new opportunities and assist in customer need mapping sessions and education on available technologies when necessary. • Work with Product Technology, ColorXpress, Manufacturing, Sourcing and Commercial organizations to implement new products, improve existing materials and resolve product issues. • Utilize technical and leadership skills in the six-sigma product design process. Prior Work Experience/capabilities: • Prior work experience/knowledge of polymer chemistry, product development, process engineering are big plus. • Strong knowledge of color theory, colorants, coloring of plastic materials, and measurement of color are desired.

Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications:• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, or Polymer Process Engineer

GE中国研究开发中心（CTC）是GE公司四个全球研发中心之一，是跨业务集团、跨研究领域的研发机构，为GE各业务集团提供基础科学研究、新产品开发、工程开发和采购服务。

中心坐落于上海张江高科技园区，占地面积47,000平方米，于2003年5月投入使用，是国内最大的独立外资研发机构之一，也是国内极少数具有基础科学研究能力的企业研发中心。

GE中国研发中心现有研发人员1400多人，60多个拥有世界一流设备的实验室，其研究力量主要集中在以下领域：

• 清洁能源，包括洁净煤、风电、太阳能发电等；
• 水处理与海水淡化；
• 材料科学，包括纳米材料、晶体、陶瓷，材料分析；
• 电力电子和实时控制；
• 先进制造技术；
• 影像技术；
• 化学技术，如导电高分子，电化学技术;
• 传感与检测技术；
• LED照明；
• 交通运输等

GE中国研发中心每年完成100多个研究项目。截至2009年底，GE在中国的研发人员共申请了450余项专利。
