Qualifications:
Board Certified/Board Eligible (or equivalent) in Emergency Medicine
Education and/or Experience:
？ Doctor of medicine degree (or equivalent) from an approved school of medicine
？ Preferred: Completion of residency training in Emergency Medicine at a hospital and program acceptable to the Department Chairperson and Chief Medical Officer. Acceptable: Significant experience working in emergency medicine.
？ Minimum 3-5 years’ experience post-residency in the clinical arena preferred
Language Skills:
？ Fluency in English Required
？ Fluency in Mandarin a preferred
？ Fluency in German and/or French a plus.
Reasoning Ability:
Superior diagnostic skills
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Primary Responsibilities:
？ Examines, diagnoses, and treats illnesses and injuries in the acute care setting. Provides immediate diagnosis and resuscitation care for life-threatening conditions, and directs the provision of such care in the prehospital setting. Provides diagnosis and care on the basis of medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests. Provides supportive care to patients with serious medical and surgical conditions until the care of that patient can be assumed by the appropriate specialist for that condition. Provides definitive or interim care for conditions that, while not life-threatening, cause discomfort or risk of worsening to the extent that such care cannot be reasonably delayed until the next available access into a more appropriate source for care.
？ Functions as the prehospital care provider and supervisor in disaster and mass casualty situations, and provides triage expertise and immediate care skills at the hospital access level.
？ Provides training. Provides training and supervision of nonphysician health care personnel in aspects of prehospital and hospital life-saving care. Provides training to medical and nursing personnel in aspects of resuscitations, including identification and treatment of cardiac, traumatic, and infectious emergencies
？ Provides cross coverage during evenings for inpatient internal medicine ward cases..
？ Provides emergency coverage for resuscitation of adult hospitalized patients on a 24 x 7 basis.
？ Will agree to serve on at least one hospital/departmental committee
？ Works on quality improvement activities within the department in collaboration with other emergency medicine physicians and Department Chairperson
？ Will work closely with the Department Chairperson in supporting departmental goals
？ May be granted additional responsibilities based on consultation with Department Chairperson.
？ Responsibilities include admitting and managing inpatients, including those with internal medicine and surgery-related issues. Job responsibilities include writing admission orders, communicating with relevant specialists (eg, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery) regarding patient care, and providing care for admitted patients in the hospital setting.
？ Following UFH’s commitment to educating the next generation of medical professionals, physicians will be responsible, as part of their ongoing duties, for mentoring, precepting, teaching and supervising UFH fellows or other relevant trainees.
？ Additional job responsibilities as assigned by supervisor, department chair or CMO.
？ Will agree to serve on at least one hospital/clinic committee.
？ Works on quality improvement activities within the department in collaboration with other Internal Medicine physicians and Department Chairperson.
？ Exemplifies highest levels of professionalism and medical ethics in every aspect of his or her work and relationships.
