Job Summary:

Delivers merchandise to customers by verifying orders, inventorying stock, preparing necessary import and export shipping documents for customs clearance, CIQ, preparing documents for payment and arranging transportation. Responsible for a defined account base and management of activities for assigned accounts. Manage quality and consistency of product and service for delivery. Assist in other departmental projects.

Responsibilities:

• Corresponds with internal departments, vendors, forwarders, and customers for shipments
• Arranges shipments by contacting vendors, forwarders, and carriers accordingly.
• Verifies shipping documents to avoid any discrepancies
• Keeps customers informed by informing any shipment delays and status of shipments; answering questions.
• Processes shipping documents daily in Quantum and Cargowise
• Plans shipments and resolves any shipment issues that arise between customers, vendors, etc.
• Suggests workflow improvements
• Retrieves shipping documents for import and export of merchandise and ensures that all operations are in compliance with Chinese policy and company regulations.
• Checks for any discrepancies in the shipping docs (i.e. Certificate of Conformance)
• Ships merchandise by examining in-house inventory (only if applicable), selects the appropriate destination, route, rate, delivery time based on customer’s need and dispatches to carriers.
• Verifies merchandise shipped by matching bill of lading, reconciling quantities; noting discrepancies.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Maintains and establishes good relationships with customers and vendors.
• Coordinates with internal departments to provide quality service to customers
• Handle Argosy NY orders in and out of China as the main contact window
• Support logistics manager and department to expand freight forwarding business in China (i.e. by requesting for price quotes, assisting with proposals, providing tracking status and reports, etc.)

Formal Education:

Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year college or university (preferably in logistics management or international trade)

Knowledge about freight forwarding and internal trade

Knowledge about supply chain management

    

Work Experience:

At least 2 years' experience in logistics position, preferably with chemical background.
