This is a position reporting to the Manager of Product Engineering, within the Analytic Platform & Delivery department at eBay. The Senior Software Engineer (Hadoop) will be responsible for development of Hadoop-based solutions on eBay''s world-class analytic platform. The successful candidate will be a seasoned technologist, top performer and versatile professional. This position will be based in Shanghai, where eBay''s global Technology Center of Excellence is located.

eBay's APD (Analytic Platform & Delivery) China team is looking for a senior technologist to join its world-class Product Engineering team, working on the world's largest business intelligence and analytic platform. As a first-level MTS (Member of Technical Staff), you will be leading design, development and implementation of APD's new Hadoop-based solutions/products that enable eBay's global business users to gain deeper business insights and make smarter business decisions. We expect our candidates to be deeply technical and Agile, passionate and innovative about technologies, excellent team player and great mentor to your peers.

Responsibilities will include:

- Key developer for big data and complex analytic platform projects.

- Participate in requirement meetings with eBay end-users to clarify requirements. Understand eBay's unstructured data sets. Assist in documenting requirements, resolving ambiguities and conflicts, and gather consensus.

- Develop and own Hadoop Data Processing on Data Platform, promoting their adoption and consistent use in all design and development mechanisms

- Lead the preparation of conceptual, logical and physical design documents. Present to management and technical teams to obtain buy-in and approval. Coordinate design and code/application reviews.

- Tune the Hadoop solutions for better performance to improve end-user experience

- Provide training and support on Hadoop-related technologies.

- Participate in continuous improvement of APD process to achieve better Agility.
