Job Title: Safety specialist

JOB PURPOSE
Under general supervision, provides technical knowledge and expertise in the operation and support of Shanghai Novartis Animal Health Co., Ltd and institutional safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, local and national consensus guidelines, Novartis HSE guidelines.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
? Collaborate with engineers and chemists to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
? Conduct safety training and education programs, BBS(behavior-based safety) program, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
? Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances.
? Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
? Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
? Investigate accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
? Maintain and update Novartis emergency response plans and procedures.
? Provide new-employee safety orientation, and develop materials for this presentation.
? Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in chemical or safety-related field with a minimum of two years experience in chemical safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, occupational safety programs, loss prevention or related fields.

Public Safety and Security--Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local or national security operations for the protection of people, data and property.
Chemistry--Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
Education and Training--Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
English Language-CET 6.
