Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join Novartis Oncology Translational Medicine (OTM) group based in Shanghai, China. The successful candidate will need to have a good knowledge of signal transduction, biomarkers and genetics in the field of oncology. The candidate is expected to work both independently and collaboratively to develop, validate and execute biomarker assays using cancer pharmacology models and clinical biopsies to support Novartis oncology clinical trials.
The candidate will report directly to Biomarkers Leader and shall desire to learn new technologies from laboratory supervisor, colleagues and commercial vendors. The candidate shall anticipate to run experiments on a daily basis as well as to prepare oral and written reports to peers and project teams. The candidate shall also anticipate to mentor and coach junior technicians from the technical perspective.
Minimum requirements:
? At least 6 years of working experience in modern molecular biology technologies, including, but not limited to
o phospho-protein assays by Western blotting, ELISA and immunoprecipitation
o DNA and RNA preparation from FFPE tissue blocks and frozen tissues
o quantitation assay for genetic materials by real time qPCR
o multiplexed protein assays (i.e. Luminex or MDS, etc.)
o antibody and tissue microarraying
o DNA sequencing technologies (i.e. Sequenom or Illumina Deep-Sequencing, etc.) as well as high through-put RNA/DNA quantitation assays (i.e. MassARRAY® QGE and Affymetrix microarray, etc.) are highly desired
o cell-based assays and virus-mediated RNAi technology are a plus
? Demonstrated problem-solving skills and creativity during assay development and optimization
? Experience in working in a GLP environment is a plus
? Proven interpersonal communication skills during collaborations and ability to lead on-site vendor assessment and monitoring
? Strong written English skills and ability to formally prepare reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and presentation slides
? Experienced in oral presentation in English
? Independent, proactive, innovative, highly organized and analytical
