Finance Manager (China)

• Based in Shanghai – China

About the role

RT Iron Ore will launch portside trading trial through a new WOFE in China. This role will perform finance/accounting activities to support sales & marketing team. Additionally, this role is also responsible for dealing with local tax issues with support from Commercial tax team, managing Cash Pooling/ Net difference Settlement account/ FX management with support from Commercial Treasury team.

In the context of the port side trading activities:

• Performs a variety of financial activities including accounting, financial reporting, tax and collections.
• Develop and deploy financial management systems and processes, including an effective risk and control framework, to meet compliance obligations and support effective financial decision making across the business
• Develops, maintains and implements financial plans and accounting & reporting procedures/standards for the organization.
• Ensure that governance structures are in place and implemented
• Ensures accurate company information is produced that is in compliance with financial and fiscal standards, rules and regulations.
• Assist with audit activities as required.
• Manage relationship with local regulators such as PBOC/ SAFE, local Tax office and banks.

The role is also important in integrating and aligning with Rio Tinto policies and systems

Reporting to the CEO of the new WOFE and dotted line to Perth Finance, you will:

General Accounting

• Performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules;

• Prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles

• Provides financial support including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget

• Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts and financial statements and reports

  Planning

• Participate in strategic and operating plan preparation

• Oversee the provision of financial accounting services to complete planning and forecasting activities.

• Produce internal reports and reports to management.

• Management of annual planning and budgeting process and integration into 5 year budget and plan.

• Provide information to management to support delivery of cost management, operating and capital budgets

• Prepare accurate forecasts and plans delivered in a timely manner

  Financial Reporting

• Design and implement effective controls around financial systems and processes

• Ensure that all financial controls are adequate and provide leadership in all areas of compliance

• Prepares financial statements as required

• Ensure that the integrity of the financial system is maintained and that the financial statements are fairly stated

• Ensures all reports and disclosures comply with applicable government regulations, professional standards and Rio Tinto policies

• Prepares consolidation journal entries, eliminates intercompany transactions, and consolidated divisional and subsidiary financial accounts on a timely and accurate basis for inclusion in internal and external financial statements

  Tax Reporting and Compliance

• Prepares and maintains Duty & tax records, returns, reports and other related materials

• Ensures a compliant and adequate implementation of the tax strategy

• Devises legal means to minimize tax liability using thorough knowledge of tax laws and regulations

• Recommends alternative tax treatments to alleviate or reduce tax burden, in compliance with local rules and regulations.

  Others

• Cash management incl. payment check

• Manage Bank payable & receivable

• Cargo hedging

• Other finance services and support as required

  About you

  To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• Bachelor degree in Finance
• Strong business ethics
• Relevant accountancy qualification, eg, ACA, ACCA
• Strong up-to-date technical accounting skills and knowledge of FX regulations and local Tax practice
• SAP proficiency required.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
• >5 years finance operation in a multinational environment
• Strong statutory accounts preparation
• >3 commodity trading business experience in China
