POSITION SUMMARY:

Design and develop on mobile software application system, to explore new opportunities and / or business model of COVIDIEN in US and EM region.
Works under general direction in a project role and may serve as key functional core team member and/or lead role in extended team.

Designs new feature and / or redesign on available software solution for mobile application
Prepares full documentation in accordance with relevant internal SOPs, Design Control and technology explorations.
Interacts with internal and external partner, participates in brainstorming processes to understand the trend of mobile technology and explore new opportunity to COVIDIEN.
Creates and evaluates prototypes to generate concept and model by following methods, testing in simulation lab, observing cases in hospitals if applicable, marketing research and interactions with internal and external customer.
Collaborates with peers to use advanced techniques to anticipate, identify and provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems to meet internal and external customer requirements.
Independently determine and develop proactive approaches to solutions which are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
Prepares reports, presentations and spreadsheets of an analytical and interpretative nature.
Collaborates with peers to get prototype knowledge transferred and support product team to finalize production of software application


EXPERIENCE:

What unique knowledge is needed to successfully perform the job?

· Thorough understanding of mobile application technology and popular Smart mobile OS (iOS and / or Android, Windows Phone, mobile Linux)
1. iOS development
· Experience in Object-C in Xcode SDK and build environment of iOS platform
· Deeply involved in iOS application development
· Successful deployment of APP in AppStore of Apple
2. Android development
· Rich design and development experience in Android application development
· Successful deployment of APK in Android market
· Deeply involved in Android application development project
3. Other mobile Smart OS programming skill could be optional
· Thorough understanding of medical device industry and competitor products.
· Thorough understanding of clinical and regulatory pathways, IP and internal processes.
· In depth knowledge and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in related field of expertise to develop innovative approaches to work.

Know how to explore in open source project and technology
Strong algorithm design competence, especially for video / audio streaming or network queuing
Knowledge of popular software development processes, like Agile / Scrum, CMMI and so on.
Knowledge of software development tool, like SVN, JIRA / SDK, like Xcode, Java, C#.
· Be enthusiastic to new technology in medical device industry


EDUCATION:

Specific educational requirement or technical training, multi-language, global experience, computer knowledge, etc.


· Education: Master's plus a minimum of 3 years relevant experience; or PhD plus some relevant experience. Education in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or equivalent. Medical device experience strongly preferred.
· Computer: Good OS knowledge and skills in (at least one of) MS-Windows, Linux, or Mac
· Able to be exposure to English or Chinese working environment with global team (speak both language could be an advantage).
· Optional:
o Agile/Scrum training, Apple certificated iOS developer, Android certificated programmer
o Solid experience in code development in (at least one of) followings, C++, Java, Javascript, MFC, HTML5 (or equivalent web technology)
o In depth knowledge of developing both high (GUI)
o Be Familiar with (at least one of) following development tools, MS-Visual Studio, Eclipse,
o Web based development competence, in J2EE / Ruby / Perl / PHP and so on.
o Network and communication technology, like TCP/IP, streaming, wireless connection or other communication system.

SCOPE OF
RESPONSIBILITIES:

What is the job's responsibility for setting and achieving goals, objectives and strategies (work group, function, department, major function, division, etc)?

· Main task: mobile client software application design and development task, starting from architecture design, detail design, coding, code review, Unit testing, integration test, and support task of feature test, system test, others testing activities as well
· Contributes inventions, new designs and techniques regarded as new COVIDIEN developed mobile software application in the technical/scientific for products or prototypes
· Tests and optimizes the design by conducting experiments and evaluations including numerical verification (standard software verification and validation process)
· Writes engineering reports and creates presentations as required to document and communicate results.
· Institutes design changes based on internal and external customer feedback.
· Represents the organization in providing imaginative, thorough, practical solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects that are consistent with the organization objectives.
· Adheres to safety and quality policies & procedures
