Principal Duties & Responsibilities

 

Assumes total responsibility for the completion of assigned projects within negotiated time and cost schedules.

Conducts a wide range of test procedures on sample equipment to the applicable standards and interprets results of the test. Determines or works with PGM or SPE confirming which tests are required; the order in which to perform tests and the number of samples required.  Performs tests and calculations, compiles data and summarizes test results into test reports and checklists.  Verifies calculations are consistent with results of measurements.  Determines whether product passes or fails subject to review by PGM or SPE.

Assembles and disassembles test samples, hooks-up laboratory test equipment in preparation for testing; operates most laboratory test equipment without supervision.

Records technical data, draft reports, writes product descriptions.  Performs mathematical calculations required to summarize test results.  Relates test results to product specifications. Acts as a liaison with other departments as required by supervisor. 

Notes and records substandard features of products which may appear before or during the tests and refer them to PGM, SPE or Lab Manager.

Maintains good housekeeping of tools, equipment and work area following tests and carry out assigned laboratory clean-up duties.

Responsible for follow-up for any non-conformances as a result of calibration, with guidance from supervisor.

Responsible for the integrity of customer samples while in the lab as per Lab management requirement.

Maintains and initiates direct PGM, or SPE and client contact to provide information and answer questions or obtain more product information. Interprets the client's needs and provides general and specific information about the process or status of an application to assist the jobholder and improve overall customer service and satisfaction. Provides PGM, or SPE / client with detailed interpretation of test results and how it applies to the status of their certification. 

May make field trips and assist in work outside the laboratories as required. 

Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Preferred Education & Experience

 

Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology OR related

2-3 years of related experience, experience in third party is a plus

Practical knowledge of working with test and measurement instruments and equipment, such as: Electrical power tool, garden tool, gasoline generator and gasoline power tools etc.

Ability to work independently and unsupervised, in a team-based work environment

Must be able to read, interpret and develop engineering drawings and test data.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting  promised delivery dates

Must be team-oriented with good interpersonal skills and abilities to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, CET 4 or above.

Must be self-motivated and client-service oriented

Demonstrated systematic problem-solving ability

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize, follow-through and evaluate assigned functions and duties

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision for non-complex projects

Good organizational, time and project management skills to complete job tasks independently and in a time-efficient manner

Computer proficiency in Word processing, Microsoft Word, Excel

Use of various lab equipment, instruments and tools
