Summary

The Network Architect is responsible to provide standards and general direction in IP networking technological field, and to act as a senior advisor to the GNS Infrastructure Operations team(s).

Mission

The main duties of the Network Architect are as follows:

? Identify, formulate and propose technical solutions both for tactical short-term operations as well as strategic long-term goals and objectives for Ubisoft;
o Support the advancement of the vision and direction of the department
o Build & present business cases to justify and defend budget investments to acquire the necessary funding for infrastructure improvements.
o Propose and defend technical solutions to Sr. Management
? Gather client requirements, and assist internal customers to express their needs and requirements in situations where the client already has a solution in mind;
o Definition and design of IT solutions
o Take responsibility for the quality and appropriateness of deliverables
o Recommend the establishment or modification of current policies and standards where applicable.
o Resolve architectural and design problems consistent with organizational directives and addresses other concerns as necessary.
? Responsible for driving the technical evolution of UBISOFT's global network;
o Keep on top of current and emerging technologies;
o Evaluate emerging technologies against business and IT strategic needs;
o Support development of new services;
o Design and delivery of solutions built for robustness and scalability, both vertically and horizontally.
o Lead, test or pilot processes for new service or technology deliveries
o Serve as a key representative (advisor) on major network initiatives;
o Lead the operationalization of any new service or technology and handover to the operations team(s).
o Carry out all other related tasks.
? Act as a senior technical advisor by, amongst other things, organize presentations of solutions and initiatives to GNS staff (kick off meetings, peer review, technical follow-ups)
o Recommend staff training and development programs for upcoming new technologies;

Education

? A Baccalaureate of science Degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems; Computer Science; Mathematics or related fields.
Relevant experience

7+ years of experience in IT, with at least 4 years relevant experience with large-scale, multi-regional networks (multi-carrier, multi-link), within an entertainment, media, content distribution or carrier-class network company.

o Ability to draw the best ideas from fellow architects to generate support for selected solutions
o Ability to work with fellow architects (applications, hosting, etc.) to design cost-effective and reliable end-to-end solutions
o Must be a self-starter that requires only limited supervision/guidance.

? Logical Analysis
o Proven record with successful deployment of large-scale global network solutions
o Experience with network architecture methodologies, standards and tools
o Able to analyze and communicate strengths and weaknesses of network technology solutions, relative to network security, performance and cost
o Strong analytical and analysis skills.
? Problem solving:
o Skill in developing techniques and methodologies to resolve unprecedented "Wicked Problems " or situations.
? Risk Management
o Knowledge of security concepts and technologies.
? Communications
o Excellent oral and written comprehension of English
o Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
o Able to host meetings and hold workshops.
o Ability to make complex information accessible
o Have good interpersonal communication skills

Technical Competencies
? Networking
o Strong knowledge of Cisco and other enterprise-class data networking equipment and product lines.
o Knowledge of network provider and carrier offerings (for WAN, LAN, MAN, MPLS, carrier neutral co-lo)
o Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, QoS, layer 2 and layer 3 technologies, and Load-Balancing. Concepts include, but not limited to, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, and NAT.
o Knowledge in the capabilities and functions of the IEEE 802.1x protocol
o Good Understanding of L7 application integration with networking technologies.
o Solid understanding and /or experience with IPV6 networks and networking concepts.
o Understanding and experience with Linux based networking

Professional Certifications
? CCIE / JNCIE or relevant, is a definite asset.
