Purpose
The jobholder will provide mechanical engineering input for critical gasification equipment, including the preparation of gasification technical proposal, BDP/BDEP packages, further development of gasification equipment designs and the authorized vendor base for critical equipment, around the gasification reactor and coolers.
The jobholder will also provide Global commissioning, start-up, inspection and maintenance support services for coal Gasification. This includes JV and 3rd party customers, for projects in coal gasification, and other area. The scope includes training, on-site support during construction, operation, turn-around and trouble-shooting. The mechanical engineer will operate alongside the process engineer and the focus will be on critical gasification equipment that belongs to gasification IP domain (burner, reactor, HPHT filters and syngas cooler). Process/equipment interface management is key in this role.
DIMENSIONS
? Annual operating budget (currently) $4M.
? Successful CSU and performance test within 3 months of operations
? Reduce specific opex/capex of gasification processes by (at least) 20% over the coming three years.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Prepare adequate technical specifications for critical and other major gasification equipment, technical proposal with 2-3 gasification BDP/BDEPs per year;
2. Reduce Capex of gasification designs by delivery of standard designs and design classes for critical equipment.
3. Improve designs and delivery, based on new Development Releases, and feedback from clients, focusing on delivery time, quality, cost and design tools.
4. Monitor and guide the further development of critical equipment; to contribute to the development and updating of equipment design tools, rules, standards, manuals and guides in critical gasification equipment engineering;
5. Provide mechanical engineering services related to critical and key gasification equipment. The scope includes basically all licensors type of obligations, including construction, training, and start-up services for 3rd parties/JVs, on-site support during operation and turn around, troubleshooting, equipment performance evaluation, lifetime assessment and advise in relation to RBI, S-RCM, etc. with the goal to achieve top quartile operational performance.
6. Ensure adequate process/equipment interface management via close interaction with the process engineer. Liaisons with detailed design engineers either within or outside (authorized vendors).
7. Manage personnel and process safety. Intervene proactively in high risk situations at 3rd party customers. Manage technology reputation and protect our IP.
8. Ensure proper implementation and operation of the designer’s intent. At the same time ensure ongoing feedback of learnings in the field into design improvements and process manuals and guides.
9. Process/equipment interface management is crucial in gasification, including material and corrosion and mechanical design departments.
10. Influence licensees to operate the plant safely and reliably while working together to continuously improve the technology and design. Job requires travelling to sites as part of the service delivery.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
