Business Development
Job Description:
- Evaluates and Analyzes Pricing Requests
- Evaluates price requests from the field for accuracy, completeness, and validity to ensure all information is provided to fulfill the pricing request
- Runs queries using various database tools to understand customers' current contracts, volume, and rates to determine pricing necessary to win or retain business and what value proposition company can provide
- Collaborates with Sales and Pricing personnel as needed to gather all relevant data not included in the Pricing Requests
- Tracks the progress of Pricing Requests to maintain the response time goals set by the Pricing Group
- Evaluates and analyzes customers' shipping requests to gain a comprehensive understanding of customers' needs and recommend company services
- Support the development of Pricing Strategies and Discounts
- Works under the direction of a Manager to gain experience and guidance
- Evaluates competitive situations, current market conditions, and profitability of accounts to formulate sales/pricing strategies
- Develops appropriate sales/pricing strategies to position company effectively and appropriately in relation to the competition and marketplace while taking profitability contribution and compliance into consideration
- Develops pricing process to create official working documents for Pricing and Sales outlining any discount program
- Completes ad hoc analysis for management to provide information on financial impacts of different pricing scenarios (e.g. impacts of competitor versus company offers, impacts of weight, impacts of rate increases, etc)
- Implements Accepted Contracts and Addendums
- Completes bid acceptance checklists of contracts or addendums from Sales in addition to bid response forms to ensure accurate implementation of contracts and customer information
- Submits completed bid acceptance checklists, bid response forms, signed copies of contracts or addendums, bid worksheets, and cost summaries to the appropriate group for bid implementation
- Works with Sales to verify information pertaining to accepted proposals to ensure there are no delays in implementing arrangements
- Audits contracts or addendums for accuracy after acceptance and implementation and set up to ensure correct and proper rates are offered
- Monitors workload of junior staff members to adjust as necessary
- Respond to Internal and External Inquiries and provides training
- Respond to internal and external requests from a wide variety of groups to provide pricing solutions
- Participates in formal training classes to gain knowledge and increase skills set
- Communicate with internal groups to ensure timely responses to inquiries
- Generates Contracts and Addendums
- Sends contracts to Legal for review when required to evaluate any customized contract requested by customers
- Audits contracts or addendums for accuracy and completeness before they are sent to the field to ensure contract and addendums are correct and the proper discounts are offered
Requirements:
- Possesses a Degree in General Business Administration/Marketing with 3-5 years working experience in similar job capacity or related building construction industry
- Possess good analytical skills and meticulous in nature
- Proficient in database development and spreadsheet skills
- Good command of written, spoken English and team management
- Proficient in Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, Excel and Word applications
- Must be a strong team player
