Position: Future Topic Management

Division/Department: Volkswagen China Passenger Cars Brand/Sales & Marketing

Location: Beijing


Main goals and objectives:

?Primarily the role must develop positioning and marketing plan to make these future topics visible in the market and with consumers. The position holder initiates cross-functional related initiatives towards consumers. The role therefore has a strong interface to product strategy, market intelligence and implementation team – ensuring end to end campaign integration.


Your Responsibilities:

Strategic positioning and marketing planning

- Develop local positioning for the topics: Technology & Innovation, Connectivity, Automated Driving, NEV/MEB with integration of product planning, China market and consumer insights

- Create marketing plan and communication roadmap for all topics with input from BUs on product launch plan and car clinic and other researches

- Crystalize USPs and messaging which can be integrated in consumer communication and campaigning

- Alignment and close cooperation with PR team on same strategic direction on all topics

- Alignment of positioning, marketing and communication plan with JVs and VGIC as consistent direction in China

- Initiate and strategically steer content planning with implementation teams

- Provide guidance to implementation team through clear briefings and information about the future topic strategy for marketing campaign creation

- Achieve differentiated and clear positioning in the market and to competitors

Innovation Management

- Continuously researches for new Trends and future topics relevant in industry and to Chinese consumers to incorporate insights into strategic development

- Share and guide BUs into a new innovative working approaches

- Propose pilots and new technologies to be considered in content creation and marketing planning

- Initiate and creates innovation projects together with Future Center Asia, Mobility Asia and external partnership platforms


? Naming strategy

- Develop Latin and Chinese names for new sub-brand, products and technologies related to the future topics

- Manage and coordinate naming development within  naming process with JVs and key stakeholders

- Cooperate and align naming projects with overall naming strategy lead (Brand Topic Management)

- Ensure protocols and processes defined and strictly followed by all parties to mitigate liability for Volkswagen brand.


Budget Management

- Strategically plans budget in advance (annual planning) for Move Forward future topic staging in China

- Oversee and efficiently plan budget spending for future topics

? Team Management and Knowledge Transfer


Our Requirements:

Necessary education:

? Bachelor or above in related field


Personal skills:

? Strong leadership ability cross-functionally

? Strong analytical skills to build connections between strategy and operations

? Strong ability to determine long-range strategies involving complex stakeholders

? Always up to date on global and China market trends

? Proactive highly self-motivated individual

? Strong inter-personal communication and cross cultural skills


Working experience (in years):

? Minimum 8-10 years working experience

? Solid automotive and cross functional experience is a must

? Proficient knowledge and experience in strategy development

? Solid project management experience in JV set ups

? Experienced in generating consumer insights as base of strategies


Remarks (Language, IT Knowledge, Certificates etc.):

? Native Mandarin and fluent in English is mandatory

? Proficient in MS Office

? Solid presentation skills
