Description
? Responsible for all the activities associated with the chartering of vessels and management of contract cargoes as well as all necessary liaising with the post fixture operational functions.
? Ensure that the vessels that are under the Chartering Executive's responsibility (whether owned or managed) are gainfully employed at all times and that the returns on the company's resources are maximized, given the market conditions.
? Responsibility for continuously monitoring the developments in the shipping industry and taking advantage of attractive trading opportunities (e.g. freight trading).
? Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with the market participants (brokers, owners, operators, shippers, receivers and freight traders) so that the company is strategically positioned to take advantage of opportunities as they emerge.
? Update various commodity desks on market changes and market opportunities as and when they are identified.
? Assist the other shipping division desks with the production of a freight matrix on a weekly basis.
? Ensure that negotiations leading to contracts are done in the best interests of the company and that the company's risk exposure is minimized as much as possible.
? Responsible for drawing up income budgets for the respective vessels (whether owned or managed) under his/her care and ensure that the best efforts are expended in trying to achieve these budgets.
? Perform quarterly performance reviews of vessels that the Chartering Executive is responsible for. Any revisions to the budget to be made, where necessary, in consultation with the Sr. Vice President of the Shipping Division.
? Liaise with Post Fixture/ Operations staff to ensure all operational procedures are adhered to and all monies due from charterers are obtained accurately, on a timely basis and assist in the recovery if necessary.
? Ensure all payments with regard to brokerage commission, charter hire for chartered in vessels, claims, etc. are accurate and that they represent the minimum requirement for an amicable settlement.
? Provide the necessary support and participate actively in legal actions taken by or against the company and give advice on the course of action to be adopted.
? Responsible for ensuring that the charter parties covering all contracts that had been concluded are vetted and thereafter signed by the Sr. Vice President of the Shipping Division.
? Responsible for updating the physical exposure report and ensuring the Group Risk Manager and Sr. Vice President of the Shipping Division, are given a risk management report upon the successful conclusion of any business.
? Prior to the conclusion of any business, the following should be discussed with the Group Operations manager
? Bunkering details/ options considered in the budget
? Routing of the vessel
? Any unusual charter party clauses
? Work with the Sr. Vice President of the Shipping Division in liaising with and monitoring the performance of joint ventures, subsidiary companies and overseas offices.
? Liaise with other departments, as and when necessary, to ensure that the efficiency and effectiveness of the company as a whole are maximized.
? Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Sr. Vice President of the Shipping Division
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
? Bachelor's degree above
? 8+ years' experience in ship chartering
? Strong attention to detail, proven ability to work in a team environment, solid communication skills (in Chinese/English)
? Creativity
