The main responsibility of this position is to work very closely with clinical research scientists, Informaticians and IT professionals to support the translational science / translational medicine research needs, maintain the daily operation of scientific applications, coordinate internal and external scientific training, openly share information and expertise, and maintain a professional network across the global organization to provide consultancy and deliver sustainable computational solutions to routine or ad hoc requests in a timely manner.
The selected candidate will, as determined by the specific problem, either work independently with the research scientists, or work as a member of a local or global team to deliver the appropriate solution.
Furthermore, the selected candidate will be recognized as a resource in the Novartis scientific community for knowledge of existing and emerging informatics technologies from across academics communities and commercial enterprises.
Minimum requirements:
M.S. in biology related (clinical related is preferred), or Computer Science with strong knowledge in Biology.
3+ years of work experience, preferred in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company (or B.S. with 5+ years work experience).
Excellent communication, quicker learner with strong problem solving skills.
Demonstrated success working in global teams.
Demonstrated success as a service provider.
Can work under pressure and be willing to meet challenges.
Strong skills in Perl or Python, Shell scripts, Java, Visual Studio, ASP.NET, C#.
Strong knowledge in Web, Database and Network technologies.
Working knowledge of a broad range of translational science / translational medicine databases.
Working knowledge of various translational science / translational medicine informatics tools (e.g., Spotfire, Watson LIMS, CREDI, ClinAdmin, Novstyle, Phoenix, WDSII and etc.).
Knowledge in R, JMP and SAS is a plus
Fluency English
The ideal candidate will also have:
Handson experience on solving various scientific application issues (installation, maintenance, license, storage, backup, etc)
Working experience with a broad range of laboratory techniques.
Working experience in multinational companies
