Strategic Marketing
Manager, Great Asia, Polyurethanes
Summary Overview:
The Strategic Marketing Manager, Greater
Asia will have primary responsible for leading strategic marketing activities
in Greater Asia (Asia Pacific region with the exception of China) for a global specialty chemical company
providing high technology materials solutions to many industries and
end-markets including construction, automotive, consumer goods, clothing and
many other applications.
The responsibilities of Strategic
Marketing Manager specifically will initially include leading market research,
market assessment, marketing planning and campaign execution for critical
future growth projects adjacent or outside to organic growth of the business.
Initially this will consist of a portfolio of individual "growth projects" but
over time will evolve to leading a more permanent and sophisticated team of
industry or sector marketing experts.
Additionally the Strategic Marketing
Manager will provide mentoring leadership to existing marketing team members
within various business units. In this
capacity the job holder will provide expert marketing guidance and coaching. This may include providing guidelines and
templates for planning, as well as "best practice" coaching and personal
capability development of marketing team members. Overall the job holder will have general
responsibility for creating an excellent team spirit among marketing colleagues
around the organization and maximizing the synergy and cooperation across
business unit boundaries. Over time it is expect that dotted-line oversight of
some individuals including performance review input and sign-off will become
part of the role in order to successfully oversee the professional development
of marketing individuals in other parts of the business.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required, MBA or
Masters in related field (marketing, communications, economics, international
trade, etc.) highly beneficial.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Minimum 8 years of marketing
experience. Ideally including both
hands-on tactical marketing and execution experience followed by marketing
strategy, planning and management experience.
Demonstrated capability and passion for
developing and executing marketing plans, programs and strategies.
Passion for understanding China and Asia
macroeconomic factors, market development trends, and industry or sector competitive
environments.
Proven managerial experience handling a
small to medium size team on commercial, marketing, or strategic projects.
Proven experience working in a
multi-culture environment managing a variety of international stakeholders
including working collaboratively with and influencing senior management.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple
complex responsibilities over time and deal well with ambiguity and uncertainty
in new situations.
Good basic project management skills and
high degree of self-organization.
Ability to build strong professional
credibility by effectively managing and developing relationships.
Strong analytical skills and can develop
distinctive strategies to achieve competitive advantage.
High proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint
and Excel for reporting and analysis.
Level of knowledge and background in
chemical industry or chemistry can be a plus.
Position will be based in Greater Asia
region, preferable to be in Shanghai otherwise in Hong Kong.
