Overall Purpose of Job:

The role of the Design Engineer is the principle, system and component development and design according to Engineering guidelines and customer specifications, to production ready status and preparation of production release.

Major Responsibilities:

？ Construction of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic brake systems and system components.

？ Create basic design in line with internal and customer requirements, specifications and guidelines according to instructions and cost targets.

？ Documentation of the design and all other relevant processes according to Engineering and quality guidelines.

？ Development and support for the Application of brake components on brake systems.

？ Creation of specifications for new components and systems.

？ Handling of concessions and change requests (ECRs).

？ Support of series products.

？ Assist customer, and support supplier.

？ Production support in case of problems.

？ Production release preparation

？ Results oriented collaboration with other departments, with customers and suppliers.

？ Satisfy customer requests.

？ Create single, assembly, and customer drawings.

Create Design FMEAs, System FMEAs, and tolerance accounts.

？ Development of design and drawing guidelines.

？ Execution of integration tests together with the customer.

？ Working according to ISO/QS standards and VDA (6), implementation of all 14001 requirements in the design.

？ Product standardization.

？ Development of work methods

？ Benchmarking

？ Concept comparison for economic analysis, market research and customer specification.

？ Responsibility for the correct processing of the described duties and results.

Key Competencies:

？ CAD knowledge (if possible Catia V 4.2.2, V5 desirable)

？ Microsoft Office

？ DFMA, FMEA, design to cost

？ Total Quality methods and techniques (TQM), Six Sigma

？ Making and controlling of drawings.

？ Presentation techniques

？ Engineering manual

？ Basic knowledge of company products.

？ Knowledge of hydraulic brake systems.

？ Knowledge of quality and environmental guidelines

？ Basic knowledge in project management and GDPIM

Education and Experience:

Educational: Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, or Automotive. Certified Engineer or chartered Engineer.

Experience: Design experience with Mechanical engineering, vehicle manufacturing and vehicle electrics, also products of vehicle accessories. Experience in the automotive industry, with brake systems and their components. Professional experience is advantageous, while experience with customer contact and other cultures is an advantage.
