United Technologies Research Center (China) Ltd. invites qualified individuals to apply for the following position in the Shanghai office. This position will compensate the chosen candidate at competitive local Shanghai market wage rate, and benefits will be administered based on local Shanghai benefit practices.

 

Staff Engineer: Numerical Methods

 

Job Description:

• Provide technical expertise and leadership in the areas of numerical methods for scientific computing, especial as it relates to code/solution verification and validation, uncertainty quantification/sensitivity analysis, and diagnostics for complex and large-scale system modeling, with strong emphasis on analysis and algorithm development. Of particular interest are demonstrated skills in these areas for industrial problems.

• Participate in global multidisciplinary projects, ensuring on-time and high quality deliverables.

• Identify and develop new opportunities with UTC business units focusing on both new technology validation and product development.

   

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering with 8+ or 5+ years of professional experience in industry, academia, or a national lab.

• Fluent English (both written and spoken) and excellent communication skills.

• Expertise in object-oriented programming in C++, C#, or Java and Matlab/Simulink.

• Experience implementing, analyzing, and optimizing numerical methods for the solution of complex and large-scale systems, including systems of ODEs, PDEs, and DAEs.

• Project execution and leadership experience.

   

Preferred Qualifications:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering with 10+ years of professional experience in industry, academia, or a national lab.

• A record of publications in the areas of numerical analysis, the numerical solution of large scale ODEs and DAEs, and computational optimization methods in peer reviewed, archival journals.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and work as part of a multidisciplinary team and an entrepreneurial attitude towards innovation.
