Position Summary

This intern position will assist the Chinese Writer with English to Chinese and Chinese to English translation work as well as the operation of social media accounts. S/he will also have the opportunity to work in an international and cross- cultural environment.

Responsibilities

• Translate material between English and Chinese (e.g., news, interviews, features, captions, subtitles, bios etc. for website, magazine, social media);

• Read written materials and rewrites into specific language (e.g. Chinese into English, English into Chinese);

• Confer with Chinese Writer for clarification of academic terminology, technical content and specifications;

• Maintain database of terminology and technical terms used in translations;

• Assist in the operation of NYU Shanghai's social media platforms (WeChat; microblogging etc);

• Ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Qualification

Required Education

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.

Required Experience

• Have previous professional translation experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Native Chinese language fluency and strong written English language proficiency;

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

• High sense of responsibility and great spirit of cooperation;

• Understand social media operations, have relevant experience preferred;

• Have basic graphic editing and design skills, pay attention to detail, creative.
