UTRC partners with UTC business units and renowned external research organizations to impact organic growth of the Corporation through new product and process innovations. The operating units of UTC include: UTC Climate Controls & Security (HVAC, building controls and security solutions), Otis (elevators and escalators), UTC Aerospace Systems (aerospace products), and Pratt & Whitney (aircraft engines). United Technologies Research Center (China) Ltd. was established in Shanghai in 1997, focusing on technology development for building HVAC, Fire and Security, Elevator applications. Our engineers and scientists work on global projects in conjunction with other UTRC locations and UTC business units to bring product and process innovation to UTC products. United Technologies Research Center (China) Ltd. invites qualified individuals to apply for the following position in our Shanghai office. This position will compensate the chosen candidate at competitive local Shanghai market wage rate, and benefits will be administered based on local Shanghai benefit practices.

Research Engineer: Turbomachinery Modeling & Design
 
Job Description:
? Solid background in turbomachinery with advanced knowledge in at least one of the following areas: fluid dynamics, aeromechanics and thermal-fluids;
? Apply fundamental knowledge of turbomachinery to the design of centrifugal/axial compressor
? Apply flow physics and analytical skills to various design applications
? Responsible for tasks in areas such as axial and radial turbomachinery and large scale unsteady flow within inter-disciplinary projects;
? Deliver advanced technology and innovative solutions through creative analysis and problem solving;
? Communicate research results effectively through both verbal and written means;
? Participate in concept creation and marketing to both internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
? Master with 5+ years experience or Ph.D in turbomachinery engineering or a closely related field.
? Experience in the application of computational fluid dynamics and analytical skills to the development of new technology.
? Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in both China and USA.
? Fluent in English (both written and spoken) and excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
? Expert knowledge with 2+ years working experience in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
? Hands-on experiences in Windows/Linux OS, High Performance Computing (HPC)
? Demonstrated ability to successfully achieve technical objectives under time constraints.
? Record of technical excellence through patents, conference presentations, and journal publications.
