KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
? Minimum 5 Years of Technical Design, product engineering, or related experience
? Familiarity with soft home product manufacturing
? Ability to make unbiased quality judgment decisions to ensure customer satisfaction
? College degree or equivalent business experience

RESPONSIBILITIES
? Follows Product Confirmation Process for Non-Certified Direct Suppliers in North China region.
    o Includes evaluating pre-production samples against measurement specs, mechanical image, construction detail specs, and minimum construction spec requirements.
    o Applies seal lock to approved Pre-Pro sample for factory production reference.
    o Advises alternate methods of construction based on the factory’s capability.
    o Identifies potential product risks for QA follow up.
    o Identifies potential quality concerns that may result in dissatisfied customers.
? Ensures all product specs are clear and available within the product package.
? Supports Certified Supplier Technical Design Program in North China area:
    o Assists with vendor training
    o Monitors and tracks certified supplier performance
    o Helps to resolve non-compliant certified vendor issues

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
? Works closely with US Technical Design team regarding product construction, sizing, and workmanship.
? Works closely with certified and non-certified soft home suppliers, visiting their facilities during production of new programs.
? Works closely with QA team during RAM process for new programs.

It is currently the “importer of record” for JCPenney and its retailing subsidiaries. At the Home Office in Plano, Texas, JCPPC operates under the title of Product Development/Sourcing as a department within the parent Company.

JCPBIC/Product Development/Sourcing “sources” a wide range of products, including products from approximately 50 countries throughout the world. Its Overseas Territories include North Asia, South Asia, the Western Hemisphere, Europe and Africa. JCPPC/Product Development/Sourcing maintains purchasing offices in important markets, with an emphasis on the Far East.

JCPBIC seeks to facilitate the direct import of merchandise, where appropriate, thereby creating substantial savings to the Company and impacting the gross margin of profits. Buying Units can then pass these savings on to the final customers.
