ROLE PURPOSE:
The role of Proposals Engineer for ALE China is to use your creativity, engineering skill and attention to detail to exceed client expectations in terms of innovative, accurate, comprehensive, compliant and timely responses to often very detailed and challenging requests for quotation, and to help manage the activities of ALE China in terms of maintaining a high level of consistency during interaction with our clients. You will also dedicate time to specific client focussed needs and strategic appraisal as well as to providing guidance on engineering solutions for exciting new projects targeted by the ALE China Sales Team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interrogation of RFQ’s and allocation of resource for response proposal
- Ownership of the full procurement process in terms of ALE/Client interaction
- Production and sign off of proposals prior to submission
- Co-ordination with key members of ALE China and the wider ALE Group to incorporate as much detailed and specific information and technical knowledge as possible
- Ensure compliance with local, State, Federal and international laws and regulations
- Specific focus on clients’ terms and conditions, either general or specific, and consultation with ALE internal legal, insurance and HSQE Managers to ensure ALE’s interests and procedures are adhered to and not compromised
- Management of a small team or single engineer to assist in the production of supporting technical drawings or models for the proposed works inclusive of technical review of potential equipment prior to allocation and pricing
- Attendance at client meetings
- Achieve and maintain the highest possible standards, within the timescales given, in terms of tender response
- Identify and secure business from new and existing customers, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Initiate and maintain relationships with potential customers, monitor developments, co-ordinate processes and act as a partner in line with any commercial contract and customers’ requirements
- Develop and realise a management plan for proposal activities in line with business strategy and standards
- Negotiate with internal and/or external parties, close the contract and monitor compliance in line with internal processes.
- Report proposals/sales activity and forecasts to Directors highlighting successes and warning of coming challenges
- Co-ordinate, execute, maintain and/or improve department administrative activities and systems in line with internal and external requirements or demands
- Management and development of Sub-Contractors and Partners in order to achieve the best possible levels of quality and service at the most competitive rates. This is to benefit the client and to enhance proposals and project delivery by ALE China.
