Position/Job Description:
The Commodity Buyer for the assigned commodity Electric is part of the global commodity team. The commodity team is responsible for quality, delivery, cost efficiency and sustainability of the direct material commodity supply throughout the product lifecycle on a global level. The Commodity Buyer supports the Commodity purchasing manager China in sourcing and commodity management providing analytical and administrative support on a global or regional level (as assigned).
Essential Duties:
? Initiate and support the development and implementation of commodity and sourcing strategies for the assigned commodities, e.g. through:
? Review supply chain requirements and provide input to commodity managers for multiple locations
? Research internal and external data to support the commodity and sourcing strategy development - assist in identifying commodity risks and opportunities
? Collect data and conduct analysis on internal spend and customer requirements and supplier capabilities
? Participate in sessions with internal stakeholders and suppliers to identify, track and report further TCO reduction opportunities
? Assist the strategic sourcing process for assigned commodities, e.g:
? Analyze Request for Information responses from Marketing or other internal groups - assist in defining supplier selection process and screening of potential suppliers
? Conduct supplier audits and capacity studies for sourcing strategy management
? Consolidate internal customer volume demands and specifications
? Complete Request for Quotation projects and develop a consolidated view and evaluation of supplier proposals. Prepare fact based negotiation packages to support senior and/or commodity managers
? Support supplier agreement management for assigned commodities
? Participate in supplier performance management and continuously track supplier performance and assist in providing feedback to suppliers where necessary
? Support supplier management at multiple locations to include monitoring supplier performance and issue resolution
? Help identify supplier agreement improvement opportunities and re-negotiations
? For particular assigned sub-commodities or suppliers, manage overall sourcing and supplier activities
Preferred qualifications:
Education:
? Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in business administration, engineering or other relevant discipline - or equivalent
Experience:
? Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in sourcing and commodity management positions
? Experience of the commodity Plastic is an advantage
Languages:
? Fluency in English is required (written and oral)
? Fluency in additional languages, e.g. German or other language, is an advantage
Skills and Capabilities:
? Strong planning, organization, analytical, and problem solving skills
? Extensive analytical and data management skills
? Fact based negotiations skills and cross functional team collaboration
? Understanding key components of managing strategic supplier relationships, including relationship building, performance, development and integration
? Deep knowledge and experience with software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) including presentation and database applications.
? Written and verbal communications skills
? Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, listening, negotiation, etc).
? Understanding the importance of customer service and internal stakeholder management
