Position Overview:
The Coordinator for Academic Advising helps coordinate the academic advising for UG students and provides administrative support to the Associate Dean for Academic Advising.

Reports to:
Associate Dean for Academic Advising

Essential Duties:
1. Works with the Associate Dean for Academic Advising in making student advisor assignment;
2. Maintains the record of student advisors and advisees;
3. Coordinates undergraduate academic advising processes including one on one and group advising, monitoring student progress, assisting students with exploring academic options, counseling students on resolution of some academic issues;
4. Provide support to faculty and staff, and identify resources in meeting their needs in advising students;
5. Works closely with students to help identify various academic options including degrees, extracurricular activities, study abroad programs, research, and professional field experience;
6. Connect students with academic and personal resources;
7. Serves as a liaison between undergraduate advisors, divisional deans and other university student support programs;
8. Other duties as assigned.
9. University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor degree, and master degree is preferred;
2. At least two years of prior working experience in one or more of the following: advising, student recruitment/retention or related student services; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved;
3. Effective English written and verbal communication skills;
4. Experience in coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others;
5. Possesses strong organizational and good people skills;
6. Ability to work with a diverse student, faculty community is essential;
7. Proven ability to work effectively as a team player; highly motivated, focused and results oriented;
8. Ability to manage multiple tasks according to required deadlines, and maintain composure under high stress conditions;
9. Ability to be optimistic, positive and supportive in all interactions with others;
10. High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
11. May be required to work occasional evening/weekend hours.
