Responsibilities:
- Understand the sales and margin performance of my buying areas, and deliver my shipment targets
- Maintain a robust supply base that fulfils our Global Sourcing Strategy and meets our Ethical and Technical standards across all sites
- Establish clear lines of professional communication with my colleagues in the UK and Asia
- Support the development process from brief to selection with my supply base
- Attend buying trip meetings providing clear and concise follow up actions for all parties
- Maintain accurate quotation records and support price negotiations with our suppliers to ensure margin objectives are met
- Manage the order management process from purchase order through to shipment to ensure excellent availability in store using capacity planning tools where necessary
- Attend weekly progress management meetings with my Technical colleague in Asia and with my UK colleagues providing clear visibility of order status
- Contribute to the development of a robust supplier strategy for my area ensuring supplier performance reviews take place
- Maintain timely commercial awareness of developments within my supply base spotting commercial opportunities and challenges, proactively identify product opportunities
- Maintain and understand an accurate periodic forecast for shipments in my area
- Have a thorough understanding of our operating procedures and be familiar with our systems and ways of working
- Understand our business vision and goal; play a positive role in making Sainsbury’s Asia a great place to work


Requirements:
- 5 years+ working experience in clothing industry
- Strong knowledge of production processes, techniques and product components
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- College degree and above
- Great at spotting issues and identifying potential solutions
- Clear and confident communicator capable of building effective working relationships with colleagues
- Good organisation skills and sound time management, excellent attention to detail
- Ability to engage and motivate my direct reports
