General Function
Generate business growth through developing a deep understanding of the automotive market and building customer relationships and understanding of products and technical capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Cultivate strong relationships with both current North American customers as well as with European and Chinese OEM’s. This includes identification of key customer stakeholders (engineering, purchasing, product strategy, executive) in order to build deep relationships on a regular basis through face to face meetings, phone calls, presence at customer site on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis (customer specific).
2.Gather intelligence and obtain a clear and comprehensive understanding of the clients' business issues and challenges, product development activity, product cycles, sourcing behavior, politics, etc. and monitor.
3.Analyze business trends to develop business growth strategy. Advise corporate on Chinese marketing strategies (target companies, products, applications). Report detailed account of Chinese market landscape today, customer marketing strategies, market forecast and technology trends.
4.Participate in strategy development for the Chinese market.
5.Prepare and execute business plans for Chinese OEM’s that include short, mid and long term goals for brand building including presentation of products, managing trade show exhibits & technical paper presentations by Engineers.
6.Assist local engineer in communicating the value and (high level) technical details of technology to customer engineers and engineering managers.
7.Work side by side with North American Sales, Marketing and Engineering to arrange meetings, meeting logistics, translation, cultural advice and relationship building. Utilize knowledge gained from these meetings to guide marketing activities.
8.Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Requirements/Knowledge and Skills
1.Excellent English, both verbal, written and comprehension.
2.Ability to build long term relationships with all levels of personnel from upper level management and engineers and purchasing.
3.Possess experience building relationships with Chinese automotive OEM’s in China and have knowledge of transmission components.
4.Ability to work cross culturally between China and North America.
5.Understands transaction drivers (quality vs. price) and possess the skill to communicate the value proposition of product effectively.
6.Excellent time management skills with a strong personal drive, with the ability to work independently with general direction.
7.Strong rapport building skills with a customer focus to deliver information accurately, and timely.
8.Able to travel internationally as well as within China – 70% of the time.
Education:Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering or both.
Experience:5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role within the automotive industry.
