Job Description: Distributor Sales Manager
Zemax empowers thousands of optical engineers to bring new technologies to life. As the global leader in optical and illumination design software, Zemax touches nearly every optical and illumination space, from virtual reality systems to moon exploration to extreme-sport videos to self-driving cars to digital retina mapping. There is a reason that 50% of all optical engineering jobs require Zemax software experience.
Since 1991, Zemax has been driven by people passionate about the optical design space, and that legacy continues to this day. In the last four years, Zemax has seen dramatic growth, both in sales and headcount. Headquartered in Kirkland, WA, Zemax has expanded sales and service support globally with operations in London and Shanghai, Taipei and Tokyo.
We established our China office to provide technical marketing and support services for our distributors in China to cover a large territory and to support China’s rapid growing needs of optical design solution. Today, we are working with four distributors locally and Zemax is growing its business with these valued partners.
Distributor Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales of Zemax products in cooperation with our local distributors. The Distributor Sales Manager will manage all aspects of the sales process of our distributors including pipeline management, sales action plans, negotiation, account care and will play an integral role in the overall success of China team.
This important role reports to the Director of APAC Sales based in Tokyo, Japan.
Duties:
- Become an expert in the features & value propositions of Zemax Virtual Prototyping solutions
- Grow sales and achieve sales targets with our local distributors in China
- Build productive and profitable working relationships with distributors
- Develop and execute sales objectives with distributors to ensure the customer perception of value leads to license renewal and expansion
- Distributor pipeline management: lead distribution, opportunity qualifications, opportunity progress reviews
- Establishing accurate predictability of monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasting
- Providing professional support to distributors: general Q&As, sales training, customer visits, creating & providing sales tools such as presentations and region & industry specific brochures, aiding technical information with the help of other experienced staff
- Strategic approaches to some big accounts with distributors and internal resources to win volume orders
- Handling of daily sales inquiries direct to our China office
Requirements:
- 5 years proven track record in B2B Sales (preferably Software/SAAS. Distributor management experience is a plus)
- Bachelor’s degree or above. (Science background, e.g. Physics or Optics is a big plus )
- Excellent written / verbal Chinese communication skills to interact with senior and executive level contacts and partners.
- Good command of English – Business to native level English proficiency is required
- Solid Experience with solution/consultative selling (Eg: Sandler or Proactive Selling)
- Ability to develop and manage multiple relationships, selling and consulting to all levels within an organization.
- Gain an in-depth knowledge Zemax best practices across a variety of industries & verticals and make strategic planning.
- Someone who brings ideas and a positive attitude to the table. Not afraid of new challenges.
- Someone who wants to play a key role in shaping the future of our sales organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of CRM software is a plus.
